Linux Missing Game Executable after update

Just updated Last Epoch on steam and it seems to have uninstalled itself. The game install directory is now completely empty.

SteamDB is no longer showing a linux depot. Has the linux version of LE been deleted?

same thing, trying to re install had to wipe my system, windows client downloads just fine but linux client downloads 25 mb of data and is done. playing with proton has huge performance issues, i hope this gets fixed before cycle wipe.

yea, there is no native linux client anymore. source: dev in discord

I paid for a native Linux game, so how can i have a refund as you broke the contract ?

Glad Iā€™m not the only one experiencing this, updated earlier and it wiped out my game completely. I really donā€™t want to have to run this on proton if i can avoid it, native client was a pretty big selling point for me.

I purchased this game because it was Linux native.
This is the last time I ever buy a game that is still in development or anything through 11 Hour games!

Same issue. I also purchased this game because it supported Linux. :frowning:

Once they update the steam store page to remove Linux, Linux users are eligible for a refund. Rocket League did it a few years ago and I got a steam refund after months with a lot of hours played.

  • Go to the Steam Support website
  • Select ā€œPurchasesā€
  • Select ā€œLast Epochā€ (you may need to select ā€œView complete purchasing historyā€ to see it)
  • Select ā€œI would like a refundā€, then ā€œIā€™d like to request a refundā€
  • From the Reason drop down menu, select ā€œMy issue isnā€™t listedā€
  • In notes, write ā€œPlease refund my Linux version of Last Epoch,
Eleventh Hour Games have discontinued Linux supportā€

Devs on discord reported that proton would be preferred experience

The performance on Proton seems to be horrendous. The main menu lags so much.

It seems like it reports 30 fps but actually runs at around 5-10, even on a small resolution.

My performance on proton is horrible, I tried different versions and it barely made a difference i never goes more than the range of 20 fps. On the native version I had consistent 60+ fps

An official reply on this would be greatā€¦ Iā€™ve invested a lot of money because of this game (bought a steam deck explicitly because I thought there might finally be an okay ARPG for Linux and handhelds).

If this is no longer true and Iā€™ve been lied to about a long-advertised feature (years Linux and Steam deck support were held up as features, in official roadmaps, etc), I at least need to be told so I can start making plans to try and recover some of the money Iā€™ve invested because of this gameā€¦

Edit: nevermind, i see it wedged in with the notes about the new mid-cycle eventā€¦ super disappointing. Performance on amdgpu Linux under Proton 9.0-3 isā€¦ poor, average frame times 30% under what I saw on native linux client, but the minimum frame times are abysmal (800ms for some frames!!!) - noticeable stutter in some cases - and this is on an RX7900 XTXā€¦ I hate to imagine what experience Iā€™ll have with the steamdeck later this eveningā€¦

Anyone have any luck with a refund? Mine has just been rejected

That is incredibly disappointing, I bought this game just because I was able to play it on my computer.

Tried to refund the game after this, and steam support (actual people) say the same thing as their automated refund process, that they canā€™t refund any purchase after 14 days or 2 hours or more play time.
I only played offline and on the native linux version, and had the game less than half a year.

They also rejected my refund, which is very upsetting. The game is okay just okay, and I would have never purchased it if was not a Native Linux game. For the developers to decide that it is too much work to now maintain the client well after users have spent time and money on it is very disappointing. And, as far as I am concerned if Steam and the developers think that it is Okay to act this way, then maybe the Linux gaming community should start believing that we (and our money) do not matter to Steam or these developers.

In the EU it seems like the game should work for at least two years since purchase.

There are people playing on linux saying it works, so EU law wonā€™t help you.

It is really unfortunate.
But Iā€™m afraid thereā€™s nothing you can do about this. Proton is an official tool released by Valve for Steam Play and LE is playable on Linux through that, so it basically means that discontinuing the native linux client is equal to removing a feature rather than removing support for a platform, and devs can choose to add and remove features at will.
