Liking posts on this forum. Does it do anything?

Hey, just quickly want to know what happens when I click the “like” button (the heart symbol) for someone’s post. Does it help people get better tags for under their name (ardent gladiator, ardent commander, etc). Just wanted to know if it’s worth pressing. I want to reward people for the time they take to make helpful posts. Thanks!

It’s not doing anything besides providing a rough indicator if a post is popular. It shows the poster that there are others sharing the opinion.

But since there are no downvotes this isn’t a very reliable indicator.

But imho it helps for a more positive feeling when being in the forums. Getting likes feels good.

I also use this as kind of an “agree” button on posts. Like when there is no real need for an detailed response.

Thanks, Rawsuicide! You get a like from me for that.

You make someone happy
But you can ask @Llama8 & @Heavy I think they are in a competition to see who gets more likes here on the forum. :stuck_out_tongue:

The only “competition” is whether Llama ever gets double Heavy’s number or not.

No, those are the highest level pack in a series that they have bought. Means nothing.

Social gadflies & millennials are likely to get a small hit of dopamine.

I am not 100% sure, but it might also help raising your “Trust Level” faster.

If you are a new user, you need to raise your trust level to lift some of the restrictions like number of posts/time and editability of your posts etc.

Also I think it’s always “worth” pressing the button if you see a post that you agree with.
Even if some1 politely disagrees with you and brings up some good points while staying very constructive I often give them a like, simply because I really want this forum to stay toxicity-free.

Especially for relatively new members it makes a big difference IMO, if they do receive some positive confirmation and it has the implication, that his post gets read.
