So, I’m building a lightning shaman with maelstorm and tornado. I know maelstorm has a wrong lightning tag as the “power of the storm” node doesn’t add raw lightning damage to maelstorm, hence it doesn’t become a lightning spell (read that on the forum)… But, how come tornado does become a lightning spell with the “Charged Storm” node? shouldn’t it be the same as with maelstorm and “power of the storm”?
The way I understand it, is that charged of the storm phrases it as “Tornado casts lightning…” so it is the tornado that casts the lightning and not you (so it’s a minion?) and that’s why it becomes a lightning spell…
The thing is, that’s extremely confusing for a player as both effects act practically in the same way. I think they should both become a lightning spell (which in my opinion is the most fun option) or tornado shouldn’t become a lightning spell making a spell lightning shaman not a viable option (this would mean earthquake with the “Storm Rift” node really difficult to pull out).
Summarizing, unless I’m missing out on something there’s somewhat of an inconsistency between the maelstorm and tornado “Power of the Storm” and “Charged Storm” nodes.
Yeah, it should be consistent but as neither node adds base damage or states that it adds the lightning tag then neither should get the tag.
I think they should have a better way to view the breakdown of skills.
