Light radius?

I think it would be cool if LE have light radius mechanic. Not the affix (since it is useless), just the mechanic. Things like enemies behind a wall/door can’t be seen. If it is in the plan, it should be implemented sooner rather than later as it can impact gameplay and balance a lot.

That is, “fog of war”?
Can’t see enemies out of range?
In general, it adds some kind of “horror”, by the very fact of its existence, even if the monsters do not get stronger.
This is interesting, and not typical of classic ARPGs.

I don’t think I would like to see this in the main game. But as an experiment, or a special regime to try how it will look like, it would not be bad.

Haha… yeah. For me as an ultrawidescreen user, this would be… ahm… unfortunate…

But a gamemode with this mechanic? Absolutely cool. I remeber Hellgate: London (the first game that really broke my heart!!) having a level where you only had a fllashlight. It was 100% dark an you could only see stuff within the light radius of your light.

Fuck my monitor! I’d like this

I hate this mechanic in an ARPG. It brings nothing but annoyance. It’s a relic from D2, and times have changed since.

I would not like such a mechanic.

I felt too little “Light Radius” in the days of Diablo at least set the mood better than the “Kunti-Clickibunti” in Diablo 3.

So would have no objection to it at all.

Yes, that is exactly what it is or has already been mentioned:

It’s one of the most classic ARPGs you can name nowadays.

I can’t say I’ve been thrilled with such mechanics in past games, but I can see this as an interesting modifier in echoes or dungeons. Not sure I’d want it game wide.

What does that mean ?

You contradict yourself just one sentence after another. And yes, Diablo 2 is the staple of the genre. Doesn’t mean that it’s not a 20 years old game with outdated mechanics… (Terrible inventory management, iding items, no loot filter etc.)

You only need to try to understand the context.

Just because you can clearly list the most obvious weaknesses of Diablo 2 from today’s point of view doesn’t mean that all other game mechanics in this game are also bad, outdated, etc.
→ The light cones/radii were simply mood-enhancing (and not least more or less the opposite of Diablo 3, for example).
