Lich's Scorn's increased cold damage per attached infernal shade not working

The item Lech’s Scorn has an effect: “+(5 to 13) Cold Damage with Spells and Attacks per Attached Infernal Shade for Minions affected by Dread Shade
Counts Infernal Shades attached to enemies and minions, but not ones on the ground. Infernal Shades are counted when Dread Shade is cast.”

This effect does not seem to be working.

This is very difficult to show with just screenshots and I’m not very good at doing video so the best I can do is describe how I’ve tested it.

  1. I equip Lich’s Scron then went to the arenas and summoned one archer.
  2. I command the archer to attack one of the training dummies and then cast Dread Shade on the archer and noted the average damage.
  3. I repeat again but this time casting Infernal Shade on as many target dummies as I can while Dread Shade is still up on the archer and note the average damage.

The damage looks very similar with no noticeable improvement. which should not be the case as each casting of Infernal shade should add +10 damage (according to my current item).

I’ve even tested it by speccing the infernal shade to be castable on my own minions and have up to 7 infernal shades active and the damage is still same-ish. (sorry to be more specfic, but without hard DPS log/counters, it’s hard to be 100% certain.)

Note: I tested with Dread Shade specced into Lone Watcher. I don’t know if this affects things, but according to the item description, it shouldn’t matter.

I hope this gets investigated as I feel like the item is losing a lot of DPS from this bug. Thanks.

Hey, I was testing this item and thought the same thing, then I read a tooltip on the wiki that said that the number of infernal shades is counted when you cast dread shade. So you have to cast your infernal shades, then cast dread shade. That seems to make it work! I committed to the meme of using the pebbles set with the added flat cold damage plus Lich’s Scorn with its cold pen and now another huge stack of added flat cold damage.

Yeah you are right. You DO have to recast dread shades to see the damage change after casting infernal shades. Probably should add this to the description or something, but I can live with it. I just thought it was simply not working. Yay damage! Thanks for the tip.
