the Carnage node on the Rip Blood tree would require you to use Rip Blood directly, so it would not be triggering Marrow Shards from the triggered Rip Blood.
You might run into issues with the interactions from leech from Flay (keeping your HP higher than you’d normally want for a low life build), life on hit from Chaos Bolts v cursed (& non-cursed) mobs, Exsanguinous & Symbol of Demise (converting all of your ward to stacks of Demise every 3 seconds) unless you’re ok with either not having much ward to convert into stacks of Demise or not having much ward to keep you not-dead.
Just derailing this a bit. If you go for the “Exquisit Blood” mod and make Flay a spell no onhit stuff is working anymore or is this counting as a hit?
Spells still hit. Only DoTs don’t. So you lose the melee hit, but you still get the spell hit. The only difference is that without the node you actually get 2 hits, one from melee and the other from the spell part of it.
Yeah, it’s kinda weird, but I think the only way you’d lose the on hit is if you somehow turned it into a DoT pool, aura or something like that.
Kinda like how AoD doesn’t hit, just applies ailments.
Macknum does have a point, but not because of the no-hit part. Flay’s Chaos Rip and Marrow Gnawer both specifically say they are only triggered by the melee part of Flay. So if you remove that, then you can’t trigger Chaos Bolts or Marrow Shards with just the Blood Eruption.
Oh, I didn’t notice that it was related to those specific nodes, I thought he just meant general on hit stuff, Like the chance to gain haste on hit, or the boots part of hitting a boss. Those will still work.
The Chaos Bolts and Marrow Shards ones definitely won’t, since they clearly specify you need to hit with the melee attack of Flay.
Will curse targets hit (Exposed Flesh, lowers armor)
Will proc Blood Eruption every 2nd attack, plus on kills
Will cast Marrow Shards (AoE setup for clear)
Will proc Rip Bloods based on stacks of Excoriation (AoE setup for clear)
Will cast 2.7 Chaos Bolts
– Each procs Harvest (100 dex, 100% chance)
— Harvest has 12% kill threshold, and increases Crit Multi
– Each procs Rip Blood (84%, but 100% after Transplant for 4 seconds due to left Ring)
This is about as much “proc” synergy as you can get, I think.
I thought about the general part but pressing Z helped a lot . I was a bit confused at first about the interactions but as soon as you Exquisit Blood 2/3 of the tree aren’t working anymore .
