Lich & Necromancer Updates | Coming to Last Epoch August 21st

I am pretty excited about the changes to lich and the new unique is also something I am looking forward to.
What is the reasoning behind letting us only put daggers and axes into the offhand, while dual wielding?

Gonna play Lich for the 1st time
looks GOOOOOOOOOD!!

Ok but what about Stygian Coal build? We won’t be able to move target of Stygian lasers like we can now with Rip Blood? Please explain this. If Stygian Coal lasers will hit only targets ahead of Lich that is a huge nerf to the build for no reason.

looks like im going blind this league and just play new lich and try get good build going on my own

can we have a peek at those changes plz?

DWing always has weapon restrictions. Thats core to the identity for the devs.

Sentinels cant even choose a second weapon, its only swords in the offhand.

Rogue gets swords/dagger, and primalist gets axe/sword. Spell blade is also restricted to only swords in the off hand.

Now lich is daggers + axes.

Okay, this is actually really friggin’ cool. I picture traveling through a mono, pulling skeletons and mages out of the graveyards and so your Abomination can get a quick snack to ā€˜top off.’ That’s gruesome and atmospheric at the same time.

There is always someone who jumps the gun without ever seeing the full patch notes and all the changes, /s

Cool so the Lich gets 20% extra attack speed while dual-wielding, but all the other classes don’t? Give this to the other classes too all they get is the increased damage taken, which makes no sense, give the option for the Sentinel to at least dual-wield a mace too instead of just a sword. The Acolyte has too many class-specific uniques in this game compared to the other classes.

Agreed. The main thing I was hoping to see was some big Necro improvement for a minion heavy build. Maybe it’s still there but not in this reveal but doesn’t look too promising. Seems like Lich always gets the attention.

No the DW changes are for all classes that can dual wield.

Some neat changes, although I’m a bit irked to still see a lot of the anti-fun kind of designs cropping up again. I really hate arbitrarily hard capping proc rates and things like that.

I’m definitely gonna look at doing something with Flay or Aura of Decay. Maybe cold converted Flay could let Bane of Winter do something. I might also give the Ruby Venom set another try with Lich.

I’m kind of confused by Transference. It seems like one of those things you imagine being useful, then you realize that the situation never comes up. So I’m gonna build around the self poison thing and a melee skill so that I can hit them with the melee skill, attach it, then… walk away from the thing I’m trying to kill and fuck around for up to 6 seconds while it maybe dies to poison? And what am I doing in the mean time? Go hit random other stuff without my aura that is presumably a significant portion of my damage?

How does it work for existing chars when passives they have points in get removed or changed? Do the points just transfer to the new passive?
Or is there a complete free char respec when there’s too many changes, like in PoE?

This looks great. I’m very excited for the changes.

I am bummed that there’s no mention of changes to Lich Form. Thematically it’s wrong to have Lich feel like it’s running out of time.

Death is not short on time, his victims are.

I can’t stand how playing Lich feels like you’re always racing against the clock to finish zones/bosses before the decay kicks you out. I can see people arguing it from a systems and balancing perspective because the form gives you a second HP bar. But thematically it’s just wrong, and always deters me from loving a class I would main in any other game.
