Here is a build idea for the new season. I tried to use very reasonable gear, mostly 1 LP, no red rings, etc. I did include Nihilis and Seed of Ekkidrasil because they aren’t too hard to get. So obviously the build can be ramped up end-game.
Offense:
The idea is to use Flay to proc Chaos Bolts, which then procs Blood Rip. As a bonus, the Chaos Bolts will also sometimes proc Harvest. Flay itself would do very little damage. Instead, Chaos Bolts is the main damage dealer, and Blood Rip would be extra damage and mob clearing. Having a large pool of mana would give Chaos Bolts a HUGE damage multiplier. Not only will you be proccing 10-15 bolts per hit, but they also get massive damage multipliers from all that mana.
Flay will apply Marked for Death curse, which then would proc Bone Curse from Chaos bolts.
In the Chaos Bolt tree, there are several things that need to be tested. For exemple, the Cthonic Aurora node - does it give free extra projectiles when CB is procced by Flay? If so, that would obviously be huge. Same thing with Chains of the Betrayer node, it potentially could really increase the damage for CB, depending on how the mana consumption from Mana Anarchy node works. Also, spell crit chance shows 62% right now, but before trying to invest in increasing that, need to test the Destructive Intensity node in the Chaos Bolt tree. Otherwise maybe adding a Phantom Grip ring might be necessary.
I don’t think that Rip Blood will be doing that much damage, and it could probably be replaced with another skill. Like for example, using the new Army of Skin boots, and then using Drain Life. Take the node that removes mana consumption, and the node that allows you do drain mana from your minions. That could solve mana problems, but honestly I think it’s too much work.
Mana might be a really big problem on mobs because each cast of Flay is going to use up large amounts of mana. However, for bosses this problem can be solved with Harvest. This seems to be the reason the new Executioner’s Tithe axe has the Harvest stuff. So every 5 seconds or so you would have to manually cast Harvest and recover your mana. As a bonus Harvest is also auto-cast by Chaos Bolts, and it will give a global 100% increased crit chance and 32% multi. It also gives a little necrotic shred.
Finally, Reaper Form just seems to be the icing on the cake for boss fights, adding a large amount of base necrotic damage, added damage, crit chance and crit multi. The Death’s Door node will always be working, since we are always considered low-life. It also adds around 380 armor. Depending on mana issues, maybe can add in Rapid Destruction for the extra attack speed, but I’m not sure if this will just make mana problems worse. Would need testing.
I want to point out now that this build is ALWAYS considered low life because of the Corrupted Form passive, so there are a lot of items/skills that can benefit from this tag.
I think the Reliquary Nest relic is going to be the best Primordial item (for a lot of builds!!), because it makes the stats on all those idols go up by 60%?!?! That’s just INSANE and would increase both defense and offense by a lot!
In the passive skill tree, I really want to try out Corrupted Form. The fact that leech stacks would never fall off is HUGE. It means you are always going to insta-heal a LOT of health while you are attacking. So leech will be AMAZING and will insta-heal anything that isn’t a one-shot. However, because of Corrupted Form, our health and ward will only be HALF of what is listed. So one shots might be a problem. . .
