I am struggling with making a meaningful use of the Ward mechanic on my Lich. With almost 100 Intelligence and “ward per second” on a several gear spots, I maintain it around 300 out of combat. However, I haven’t been able to bring it much up while in action.
I have maxed the Acolyte passive that gives 130 ward on enemy death but this contributes the most when I need it the least - small trash mobs that evaporate fast. Against big targets, that take long to kill it is useless.
I tried the “ward per Reap” in the Reaper form tree, but it gives a measly 10 ward per hit per enemy and then the reap is on cooldown. It is okay for mobs, not so good against big enemies.
Tried Soul feast for a bit, same thing. How do people get thousands of ward and keep it? Everything I see gives a few points here and there, mostly on kill.
I saw the Necro guide that uses Volatile Zombies with insane health increase to get lots of ward there, but this seems like a gimmick to me and still, I as on the Lich at the moment. Any tips?
Also, I just got the Strands of Souls belt, brought Ward to 360.
Ward builds are niche and come online through unique means.
Those mostly being exsang/steps or through on hit/cast mechanics, humming bee, spell blade etc.
You can also look into twisted heart of Uhkeiros which grants ward based on health everytime you cast a necrotic spell, so if you spam hungering or another spell and have good health recovery you can get large amounts of ward that way
I saw the amulet earlier, will see if it drops. Interesting though that Ward is so hard to come by. Correct me if I am wrong, but armor and dodge are not feasible for the Lich, in light of how gear and attributes go, which leaves only Ward. Crit avoidance is a separate thing.
Armour totally is a thing on Lich, you can very high amounts of flat Armour through various means, including Reaper Form, Death Seal, Soul Feast and Bone Armour.
If you invest into % Inc. Armour on gear you can get thousands of Armour.
All of this, with the exception of Death Seal can be combined with Ward also.
