Liath in chapter 8

Nitpicking a little, just a very small story detail… I recommend ignoring this thread…

In chapter 8, I go to Lagon’s Isle.
If I follow the main quest, I then enter the Moonlit Shrine. Liath is waiting for me there, and tells me she has broken the moon thingies to prevent me from entering.
I then visit two areas on the sides to collect the moon fragments.
So far, so good, the story works great.

But what I find disturbing is that each of the side areas has a side quest, obtainable before meeting Liath (one in Thetima, one on Lagon’s Isle).
As I already have the side quests, it is very tempting to enter one of these side areas, and once inside I can accidentally pick up a moon fragment (even though I have never heard of these). Once I have a fragment, Liath never shows up in the Moonlit Shrine, making the story a bit odd.

Suggestion: make the moon fragments only pickable after I have talked with Liath.
Even better and easier suggestion: move Liath, with the exact same dialogue, at the entrance of Lagon’s Isle, near the waypoint, to make it impossible to start the side areas before the chat with her.

Yeah, that’d be less annoying.

Absolutely, as that would mean no backtracking.

Completely agree, it has been a “slight” irritation to me but I just never submitted the feedback. :face_exhaling:

She wont appear, no, but if you interact with the south pedestal she still does her voice line. At least, that’s happened on my last few characters. I always grab the pieces along the way before I go there if I remember to.

Yeah, if you pick up even one of the required pieces then she doesn’t actually appear. If you go there before picking up either piece then she does appear. It just needs to be updated to manage the difference between if you picked up either of the pieces or not, or better yet not let you pick up the pieces until she gives you the objective.

I would much rather it not prevent you from picking them up ahead of time. Though, it would be good if they incorporated something additional, like a voice-over line or some floaty-text (like the letters in the new first acts) that says something like, “hmm, this looks like it could be useful, I better pick it up.” I do agree that Liath should still appear either way.

Is it me, or is Liath’s voice acting something that could use a little work?
