Leaderboard solution

I might have a solution about the leaderboard and bug/balance fixes affecting them. A reset wouldnt be necessary either:

Why not have the leaderboards available 2 weeks (or so) after a cycle started?

That way the devs can smooten out balance and get rid of bugs. It also gives the casual players a fair amount of time to have their characters ready without the fomo.
Also the leaderboards wont need to be resetted imo.

Personally I dont think there is a need for leaderboards right after a cycle starts.

Kind regards

(Yes this was initially a comment I made on some post but I thought it might get more recognition when I put that in “Feedback and suggestions”)

I would use the first half of a season to pan out issues that might pop up and start the leaderboards midseson when everything works smoothly. Most people need longer to get to a point where they are even on a level to participate in leaderboards. Or do an unoffical early leaderboard in the first half of the season and an official one at the end of the season to see how things changed over time.

I´d go 4 weeks max until leaderboard is open tbh.
Not trying to cater too much to the people that “need longer to get to a point where they are even on a level to participate in leaderboards”. They´d still have 2 months time (if the cycle goes 3 months) to make placings. And people dont NEED to be ready when leaderboard is open.

Im no dev, so I dont know how long it would take to pan out issues.

The duration isn’t the problem but there is no need for a leaderboard when things aren’t working out yet. Look at the current state of the game, the leaderboards are a joke and nothing that should be called leaderboard to begin with.

We´re all just looking for solutions here. Poinitng out the problems isn´t gonna help!

The leaderboards are fine as they are. They allow racers to compete in them. If you don’t open leaderboards at the start you’ll lose the racers, which are an important part of a cycle launch.
What needs to happen is that stuff needs to be more balanced. It’s something EHG is working towards, but clearly dropped the ball with the new broken skills. At this point they have 2 options: either fix the broken stuff and remove those entries from the leaderboard (like D3 and PoE have done in the past), or try to do better in future seasons.
If masteries are all sort of balanced (they’ll never be fully balanced, as shown by the fact that no ARPG managed to achieve this, EVER), then leaderboards will be fine right from the start of the cycle.

EDIT: This is an opinion of someone that doesn’t even care about leaderboards. But I do feel like they’re an important system for a part of the community and shouldn’t be “nerfed” because class balance is all wonky at the moment.

They can be open that’s not the problem but it should be wiped when placements are made oder race participants used buged skills. So there is a race but the board get’s wiped or put into legacy and a new one is brought up as soon as the game is free of buged skills.

If you do that, there’s no point in anyone running for the leaderboards in the first weeks anyway and you end up with the same issue, racers will leave.
All that needs to happen is what D3 and PoE have done in the past: when there’s a bugged skill that is vastly outperforming or doing things it shouldn’t (like the immortal build in Scourge), then you fix it as soon as possible and delete those entries from the leaderboard.
You don’t need to reset the whole leaderboard, just remove the offending entries from there and everything is fine.

Just like, if you were to remove the leaderboard entries from the current leaderboard for the fixed skills (and assuming you fix profane veil/hh as well), then the leaderboard would be fine. In fact, the way it is actually encourages people that play the bugged interactions to play the leaderboard and EHG can find out the issue faster.

If you make a fake leaderboard that will only last a couple weeks, or a month, then whoever has these broken builds won’t bother with the leaderboards until they are “official” and you will only find about these things much later.

I never heared resetting or deleting leaderboard entrys is something EHG had in mind. Maybe there are technical issues in it as for stacking keys for example. On top of it I don’t know how well the entrys can be checked. Right now I just look for low tech solutions.
