Last Epoch Official Trailer | Season 4 - Shattered Omens

Let’s do this ! Bring on Season 4 !!!

Looking forward to melee volcanic orb. I always end up turning my casters into brawlers.

Hype!

Yeah, let’s hope so. :sunglasses:

The trailer looks cool, congrats.

I’m rather underwhelmed by two of the new mechanics - omen windows look a lot like PoE’s breach (which IMO has always been a poor and forgetful mechanic that punishes high mobility), and the corrupted items feel a lot like PoE’s, well, corrupted items (which is just one more way PoE uses to punish their players pretending it’s gambling)

In other hand, the two new rogue skills are great - even if they happen to be something I don’t really enjoy, having new skills in the game is great. They also reinforce something unique to Last Epoch (each skill having its own skill tree)

Contrary to many mechanics and the general gameplay feel that punishes low mobility.
A slow old fart like me appreciates a bit of standing around, mostly.

1v1 is one of the PoE mechanics leagues. A variation of it was implemented literally in the last epoch.
And this is once again a mob hole.
The corrupted mechanic for items doesn’t seem to promise anything new: strong builds will become slightly stronger for a possibly incredible number of crafting attempts, while weaker builds are unlikely to rely on this casino to gain power.
It seems like another disappointment, like the current league. Although the current league had a mob hole, it at least had some kind of wrapping, while the new league is literally 1v1, just like in PoE.

Because they’re complete copies basically, no iterration at all.
It’s low-quality since they don’t even properly fit into the currently needed content of the game.

It’s one thing to provide systems existing elsewhere if they improve the gameplay substantially. It’s not if they’re basically carbon copies without ‘soul’.

I just want to say in a previous season they introduced guaranteed slams and it made me basically an over the top upset man child. And I was of the mindset it would ruin the game at the very least for me. That was over a thousand hours of play time ago. My point being some of the things in the trailer may look undesirable at this moment or when looked at individually, but at the end of the day you won’t know if the new features are bad till you get to play them.

On a side note for me at the very least this game is all about builds and crafting. And although limited we see that that feature of the game is being expanded. Sure you may dislike some aspects shown in the trailer but their may be unknown or unseen things coming in season four that may blow you away still.

TLDR: wait till we have full patch notes and you get to try the season, before writing the new content off.

I think mechanic wise with the Omen y’all be ok. Pretty much every single build in LE has aoe to some scale (some just way to big) it’s also LE which is generally a bit less challenging, you know, hard to die.

Dropping a smoke bomb as a rogue covering a lot of that area would be great or a judgement pally not moving or your raptor on a killing spree due to a 60 kill combo hitting stuff for 15 million or your abomination one swat hitting most of the circle at once etc. It’s gonna be aaaaa-ok. If it’s not and I’m wrong I’ll come back here and delete this and pretend I never said it

I spoke out my worries about MG/CoF.
I spoke out my worries about Boss-Ward.
I spoke out my worries about the Rift Beast system.
I spoke out my worries about the ‘Minion rework’.
I’m speaking out my worries about the corruption system now.

None of those worries have ever been proven wrong. Why should it now be different?

I can deduct reasonably well when a mechanic which is showcased will fundamentally cause problems. I don’t know the exact details, but I can absolutely see the patterns behind those mechanics without even needing to try them.
My chance of being wrong is - sadly, I would love to be proven wrong on those things 100% of the time optimally - very small.

So you’re right, I won’t know.
But I have a very very clear-cut idea of how it’ll turn out.

I didn’t want to make another thing with you. My last post didn’t quote anyone as it was just a general statement and not directed at anyone.

Don’t sweat it bro it’s just the forums we all have personal experience that sours our views on certain aspects. He’s not making a thing he’s just stating what he’s come across in the past.

I always jump to conculsions, always. I think corruption looks terrible but hope it’s not (it probably will be). I love breach and so I’m all for omens haha! They need to bring in Delve before I fly to 'murica and sit outside their houses though.

Sad part is despite what we think it generally doesn’t matter because they’ve already implemented XYZ anyways lol

Yes, but Kulze is the most skilled & successfull arpg developer/lawyer/slaver/politician/economist/insert any other job here & needs to remind us on a frequent basis. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, he has the humility required for all of those things as well!!

Just let it all roll over you & don’t worry about it.

You know what the interesting part is?
That since a good while you went from arguing from the factual basis to personal attacks mostly.

Also you misunderstand something. You don’t need humility, you need knowledge, and you get solely humbled when you lack knowledge, which is a teaching moment.
Might bring you to the conclusion why I as someone who loves to argument actually knows so much about different topics, because I can take being humbled and then advance my knowledgebase and the thought processes.

Might do you good rather then falling back to arguing in a way which is solely emotional.

Just curious what players look forward to the most when these massive updates come out.

I personally look forward to the unique item pool expanding the most, especially when new uniques create new build or build interactions.

As a matter of fact if the seasonal update was just an addition of a 100 new uniques that would be enough to keep me happy and playing.

I kind of wish that during the waiting period of seasons that the devs would release one new unique every so often, that you could make a build around. That way it gives me something to do and aspire for (you could call it distracted ) until the next big content drop.

I like the total reset and fresh start.

As it stands right now till I find out more. I’m only planning to corrupt 1lp slams as they are easy to make, idols as they are abundant and easy to farm, and failed lp2+ in hopes the corruption saves the failed item.

As for any unique item that a slam multiple desirable t7’s on especially harder to make ones like my paranoia helm with t7 strength and t7 smelter level I won’t corrupt those. Unless I make a second slam copy and have a back up if it fails.

I wish we could still use corrupted items as sacrifice for the Gauntlet of Strife. The sacrifice is completely destroyed, so why shouldn’t this be made possible? :frowning:

I’m not the type to really enjoy conscious high risk gambling and I’m a perfectionist where the slightest deviantion to the optimum bugs me. It has minion affix on it and I don’t have any minions, immediate trash item that I shatter no matter how good the rest of the item is.

I intended to mostly ignore corruption altogether because I know it will only frustrate me. Unfortunately EHG just wants to force players to engage with it, with affixes such as “+ x to all Attributes with at least 7 corrupted non-idol items equipped” and other affixes that you can’t get otherwise on an item, e.g. the “+ skill” or the 100% conversions. We don’t know yet for certain, but corrupted items may well become not just the theoretically strongest items (which is fair, high-risk/reward) but also must have items (like RR but way way waaaay worse). That is a recipe for desaster.

Also why does the last echo in the echo chain give pre-corrupted items? That is not a reward, that is punishment. Just like items from that Rift Beast echo that has T8 in it. The item is worse because of it because it blocks a crafting opportunity. The chance of getting a drop you can actually use is negligibly small.

Actually… that’s a good idea.

It allows salvaging a portion of the value at least, which reduces the risk a little.

And yes, I agree, they’ll likely turn into ‘must have’ for outcomes, which will mess with the existing situation that people already are severely burned out from the long timeframes in-between upgrades. And that won’t make it better, quite the contrary.
A better approach would’ve been to rework the fundamental system and allows for less important but also more often happening upgrades to alleviate this issue. This one just puts another step on top of a already precariously unstable system.
