I have like 3500 steam hours and countless hours of maplestory, would I say people should play it? probably not unless they are the type of gamer it caters to.
I have that many hours because Ive played it over a long duration. Number of hours in say pre online mode for LE id recommend way more then the same once online became a thing. offline somehow also got more bugs and weird hiccups when they did finally create the online servers. I enjoy playing online for potential ladders/partys etc. But I can say that each hour spent was not equal. And that if you played my amount of hours in the current patch, Id give it a mixed.
Tbh steam might do well to introduce a mixed rating. A rating that counts towards both positive and negative. That way if you have 50 negative, 100 positive and 100 mixed, you have 150 negative vs 200 positive, or 57% positive. if instead all the mixed rating people wouldnt vote, it would be 50 vs 100, for a total of 150 which would be 66% positive. but thats a whole can of worms that we can talk about for hours on how binary rating systems are trash.
I currently have a good review on the game cause Im not mean enough to randomly make it negative as its not THAT bad, but my current review would most certainly be mixed.
We need leaderboards here (not arena). Maybe a corruption one, or a circle of fortune points one, a boss ladder one for c2, or come up with a new game mode. Iâve been playing D3 instead just because of that. Not because d3 is better (itâs getting realllllllly long in the tooth) but it offers activities that keep me engaged. Every class has leaderboards, with different builds. You collect the gear for them (that takes time) augment said gear (that takes time). Thatâs just a lot of fun to me and people who play these kinds of games.
Does it? Every season I got all sets in a day or two at most. Itâs even easier because each season they give you one for free with barely any difficulty.
Does it? Especially with âarenaâ itâs not too long until you have all legendary augmented gear and a primal to boot. A week at most.
D3 is fun for casual playing. Itâs good for what itâs aimed at. But you quickly get the gear and all you have left to do is spam GRs over and over again.
Iâm not trying to bash you for playing D3. Iâve played it as well and not even that long ago. But in terms of things to do in endgame itâs rather limited. Especially because the majority of players donât care at all about leaderboards (I mean, now that there are less players around maybe most do care).
its a lot like LE. Example: you are a squirrel master, you need the hat. That hat you get has set stats, but are in a range. Are the stats on your hat max? Do they have LP? Can you use an âaverageâ hat and compete against the guy who has a 3 or 4 LP one with top rolls and a perfect slam? Then repeat that with every item you wear. If you can get the one you want in a day, then you should be streaming your play and be rank 1.
As far as augmenting goes, the chance of getting an echoing scream is 5% per GR you run. Each GR should take you sub 3 minutes. Every 20 GRs, if you empower the grifts you get a lvl 100 gem in addition to the echoing scream which can give up up to a 125 aug. You need to augment 13 items. This is PER BUILD you compete in. Thatâs a big time sink.
You can do the âoh, I played 20 hours straight, got rank 1 and then drop the micâ but the season doesnât end after opening weekend.
My goal is to get GR150 solo in a few builds, maybe score a few rank 1s, and enjoy myself.
And, of course, from the point of view of someone fanatical for the game, any criticism (regardless of how constructive it is) is not just wrong, but also evil, and should not be allowed to exist; and the players making the criticism should just leave the game and the community.
I wonder if those players, who almost worship this game, will ever realize how much they hurt it - because pushing away everyone but those who are fanatical is going to end with a game very, very far from the 100 games on SteamStats.
I said I would get all the sets in less than a day (for the class Iâm starting with, which was almost always DH) and pretty much fully BiS gear in a week for one of the builds. Not get BiS in a day.
Itâs not that hard to maximize stuff in D3. And the power creep makes it so that itâs not hard to run GR 150 with at least one of the sets. In fact, with some of the sets, you donât even need fully optimized gear. Tal Rashaâs was like that for some time.
Yeah, thatâs fair. Honestly, once I played for a week and reach GR150 with a DH set I was pretty much tired of it already. I think the last year I played D3 I joined each new season, played DH until I reached GR150 and then didnât bother trying other classes.
Again, Iâm not trying to shame you or saying anything negative about the way you enjoy D3. As long as youâre having fun thatâs all that matters. Iâm just pointing out that not everyone enjoys the D3 model.
I donât think thereâs a single user in this forum that applies to what you describe. You have many players, myself included, that like most things about the game. But I donât think Iâve seen one that vehemently defends the game and not have some posts stating things they dislike/wish were changes. Myself included.
However, there are a few that only have bad things to say about the game. Case in point, the guy that posted before you. Not a single post saying anything positive about the game.
Anyway, to get back on point, are you saying that there are no dishonest reviews on steam? Because your point seems to be that white knights donât like critics, so every single critic is valid.
Which is ironic, because what the âwhite knightsâ have been saying in this thread is that some are and some arenât. And youâre the only one talking in absolutes.
I wonder if people who type out pseudo-intellectual, strawmanny claptrap would stop doing it if they had the same level of insight about themselves as they claim to have about âwhite knightsâ and âfanaticsâ.
He showed you some reviews which werenât good or constructive. To which you replied that his point was that since some were bad none were good.
Since that obviously wasnât what he was saying (I donât even know where you inferred that from) I said you missed the point. To which you replied, again, with the white knight argument.
So, the âwhite knightsâ were saying that some (or most) of the critics are bad or dishonest. Not one of them said that every single critic was bad. Youâre disagreeing with them by saying that to them ANY critic is bad/evil. So you donât agree with their point that some critics are bad. Your argument seems to be that only white knights consider them bad critics.
Since, I reiterate, all theyâve said was that some were bad/dishonest. Not all. You were the only one talking in absolutes in this discussion.
I know the D3 model is not for everyone. It would, however, keep the population from bottoming out. I would much rather play LE at this point if there was similar options. Thatâs 1 more player at least
For example I play a game for several hundrets of hours and they revamp it completely and call it their 2.0 version of the game. I played said game as a time waster from time to time and it accumulated a lot of hours. Then I wrote a bad review because heir 2.0 revamp was like killing the patient with the cure.
There are so much reasones why somone has xyz hours in a game and leaves a bad review. Thatâs totaly understandable.
I spent thousands upon thousands of hours in WoW and I still think itâs a trash tier game on a personal level . Itâs most likely still one of the best MMO games out there and I played it for a long time and I would still donât recommend it.
I can see a ton of reasons why people played something and donât reccomend it.
I have two motivations for not recommending the game right now. One, because I think it will get better, and someone playing it now will play a game that I think is not complete/ready for prime time. Basically, wait and see.
Two, not giving it a recommendation and stating why I felt I couldnât give it a recommendation is the clearest way I can think of to tell EHG what I think is wrong, and that itâs serious.
Look at SL0PPYâs post. His first post on this forum is to tell us that the game got stale right quick.
it looks like endgame experience is the #1 thing they are focusing on overall in their timeline. By 1.3 I think people can no-life this game for a full cycle and keep the population at a decent level.
Canât slate Lost Ark, brilliant game.
All the Longevity of an MMO with the action of an ARPG crammed into a package of fun and adventure.
Amazing combat and an abundance of endgame activities.
It got a bad rap from streamers a few weeks after release but letâs face it they are paid by companies to Promote & Traduce games.
Lost Ark has been in the Top 100 since itâs release 2 years ago and deserves it.
Microtransactions like âPay to unlock more hero slotsâ put a bit of a dampener since all the classes are unique making a player want to try them all; but this Forum loves PoE and playing that without buying stash tabs is a painful experience too.
Bots in Lost Ark arnât really an issue anymore, that was many moons ago.
Amazon just bans people by the tens of thousands now for the smallest infractions regardless of whether they are Whales or not so the community grew weary of purchasing gold.
There are a few but they exist in any online game with a currency system.
LE does not deserve to be Top 100 yet, it can do with a bit of direction and I hope it does end up booking a spot there, but not yet.
