Hello there, I just died in Imperial Welryn because there was a very big lag. But this came out of a sudden. All the other areas around, I got no laggs or fps drops. Just in this specific area.
(By the way I’m a bit angry and sad, because this Hardcore Characters seemed to be very good and now the whole day of playing is just gone out of the window…)
I got the same problem with another character now. In Imperial Welryn Chapter 4 Imperial Era 1005 AG, questline “The Immortal Empire”. Near the Outcast Mage, I got FPS drops from 50 to 3-5. So I think, that there is a problem in this area. Please fix this.
You said this before… I asked for a screenshot because there have been instances in the past on other maps where you have to stand in a particular spot to trigger the fps issue…
Playing on Ultra with 144fps framelimit on a 2060 GPU will probably cause strange stuttering, freezes and fairly big FPS spikes or unexplained fps drops and occasional crashes. The game is in beta and generally unoptimised so if you let it, it will max out your GPU and cause many weird issues. Ultra quality is known to cause random fps & performance issues even on 30 series GPUs. Enabling all special features like shadows etc just added to the potential for issues. A frame limit of 144fps at 1080p Ultra is probalby not limiting the game in any way and its likely maxing out your GPU continually.
I recommend Medium (maybe High) settings with roughly 75 fps framelimit at 1080p. The ideal is to keep your GPU usage at between 60-70% while doing nothing in town so that it has headroom to ramp up during busy game times without causing any instability or big performance issues. Imho the graphical difference is not that big while playing…
You are using a laptop… Strange unexplained performance issues happen on laptops… You need to make sure that your laptop is not set on any dynamic performance modes while playing LE… it must be set to max performance at all times… You also need to make sure that it doesnt try to swap between the iGPU & the 2060 while playing… It is recommended that you set the LE executable to only run on the 2060 - you can do this in the Gpu driver or windows advanced graphic settings. Please also make sure your laptop BIOS etc are updated.
I have loaded your exact position in that map and I dont lose any FPS when standing there or moving around anywhere near there. So its likely that there is something else going on specific to you. It may have something to do with your build but thats hard to test… Does this problem occur no matter what character you use?
Your player.log is showing very little in the way of specific errors but enough odd ones that I would recommend that you consider a reinstall - you seem to be using the standalone player so I am not sure how well its patching over the last few days has ensured that the installation is ok… and a messed up install can do strange things.
GPU driver is new… I have noticed a few people with that dated driver having odd performance issues in the last few days. You may have to consider rolling back to an older driver - a version or two back - just to see if this new driver might be the problem. Be sure to do a clean safe mode driver install using somehting like DDU to make sure the driver is installed properly.
You are getting LiveKernelEvent 15e errors in the diagnostic section (end of the dxdiag file)… Livekernel errors are never a good sign… The 15e one seems to point to some sort of driver issue (google to see if any of the potential issues match what could be happening with yours)… Quite a few are laptop related… You need to figure out why that is happening and correct it - it may not be related to your fps issue in LE but its important to sort it out or at least confirm why its happening to make sure.
While playing, temporarily dont use any other applications - just to check if they might be involved in some way… doesnt matter how irrelevent you think they are, just temporarily dont run anything else while testing.
EDIT: One last thing, does changing the Window mode in game make any difference for you?
First of all, thanks for helping with this kinda issue. When I first played through this area, I had set the framelimit to 60 fps and now I’ll go trying to put down to high or medium properties. I’ll check this 15e errors to provide any other difficulties and I did a new clean install of my OS and the game a few days ago, so the new gpu driver wasn’t installed the first time, where I lost the HC Druid character.
