Lack of skills / customization

Getting a bit bored, I wanted to play this game because I’m tired of holding down 1 button to use my main skill and like 2 or 3 other skills for movement / a buff in these types of games.

And now on my 3rd character thats exactly what I’m doing. Theres no point to using other skills as they don’t scale with my build, theyre not worth putting investment into because they wont scale properly. And I’m just feeling a bit bored with whats being offered here.

I tried using a bunch of skills and it was lack luster trying to build them up using generic damage increases and having mis-matched damage increases. Even using “skill rotations” I find incredibly boring to just use whatever is off-cooldown at whatever moment.

I hope some day theres some more conversion and more options for skills and more interesting ways for when / how to use your skills. currently it feels way too pre-planned OR restrictive.

Feedback like this would be a lot more useful to the devs if it were more specific. There isn’t anything actionable they can take away from it when it’s so vague. Be specific about what classes, what skills, what upgrades, etc that you tried and didn’t get what you wanted out of.

Theres no need to be specific. Theres a lack of conversion, lack of scaling if you go minions and theres like 2 minion skills for you character or youre forced to only go minions or you have a skill on your class that can only be used with spears. It’s all over the place. It feels extremely limiting and rigid.

I am trying to figure out what you are saying here? Are you saying that only certain skills have the ability to perform well at higher end content? Or are you saying your want to see more skill synergies so that your not just using 1 skill but rather comboing them together to create a rotation?

If it is Option 1 - Lack of performence then I think you are off the mark, it is not a case of skills not performing but more of a case of a handfull of skills that are way overperforming. Pretty sure it has been comented that Corruption 300 is the balancing point for the game, most skills can be built around to reach that point.

If it is Option 2 then I believe this is the wrong game for what your are after, the design style has been pretty clear, you will be mostly spamming 1 active ability that may trigger other skills and you have the odd buff to apply.

On the point of option two I WOULD like to see more Synergies between skills created either using sets or unique as some classes feel like your a hamfisting a skill into the tree just because you have space.

The thing is, If there were more skill options and more options for scaling of said skills I could use more than 1 skill even if it was slightly less optimal. Like I’m looking at void knight and all his scaling tags are for spell/void. Maybe 1 or two of those skills can be changed to another type. But if I wanted to use Javelin and some of those void skills theres zero synergy / scaling there. And that lowers my potential skill options to use overall.

And then you have in Javelin the ability to cast smite. well what If I hate smite? Less options again. I keep seeing this all over the skills and trees.

It usually takes these games a few cycles to get in their groove, with new uniques and sets that really change up your builds. There are currently a few of those already (like the Wraithlord helmet or the squirrel item), but not a whole lot.

I agree that there’s not a whole lot of build diversity right now (especially since respecs are so expensive early on) and not a lot drops until much later in mono. But hopefully we’ll see new build options and synergies with every season! That’s been the case with other similar games, at least.

Yes, the game is still in the conceptual face before it becomes fully fleshed out, but we already have a bit of a variety in builds with more springing up through unique items every league actually.

While the conversion methods and similar synergies are different for every classes and some have… not enough options available some are decently fleshed out already.

Take the necromancer for example. You can go full ‘zoo’ build, specialize on skeletons, on golems, wraiths, volatile zombies and also adjust the wraithes into a wraithlord which provides a completely different build feeling.
Each of them is a variety of the ‘summon’ archetype and different in playstyle in their own way even.
So that class alone has at least 5 viable and different builds. Given there’s 14 other classes the same holds true to a degree. Marksman can also a variety of ways for example.

It’ll definitely become more as well, but for a 1.0? Absolutely suffices, it’s more then enough even, should sustain you until 1.1 at least.

If you really need to use javelin as a voidknight, you can still use it as a movement skill. You will also get the buff part and even if you dont specialize the smite, it still can apply armor shred and time rot.
