Lack of Challenge Is Killing My Interest in the Game

Wouldn’t you be missing a bunch of idol slots and passive points if you did that?

Sure, but I sometimes do that anyway. It’s more fun to jump into monos soon, grind them until you’re about 55-60ish and then you go back and just rush the campaign.

Also, by then, you’re bound to have a bunch of keys, so you can use the dungeon skips, which also give you passive/idol slots now. So you end up wasting less time in the campaign, if you want.

That’s actually a great and clever idea for this whole situation. I would sure only do hard campaign if it took me straight to empowered monos.

How much of the slots/points do you get from the dungeons? Is it enough to make up for what you would miss from the quests?

Well, before 1.2 you could do all the dungeon skips and get the rest of the points by doing the side quests in Maj’elka, so I imagine that yes, you can get get all points using the skips now.

Ah. I just came back to the game a few days ago, haven’t been around since shortly after launch. So much has changed. If I can still get all my points and idol slots without having to backtrack, at least that will help with alts.

I haven’t tried it myself (since I enjoy the campaign), but there have been posts about is where players said you can do the skips and you only need to do Maj’elka quests, so with the new bonuses I expect it’s easier.

Personally, I’d rather just dive into echoes earlier and then just run through the campaign. But I still finish it with all characters (having quest objectives on the list triggers my gamer OCD and I have to finish them).
But you need a good build and/or twink gear to be able to handle normal monos at level 20-25ish.

There is a pretty easy fix here… Don’t choose the strongest builds in the game as these will provide the least challenge…

Try making your own build.
If you simply copy paste the work someone else has done to create one of the strongest builds you will likely continue to feel the same way.

You fisrt need to slog through campaign and normal monoliths and then you have to play emp monos over and over and over and over again untill you feel the game got harder or to hard at some point.

This is a good thing for new players even an awesome thing. Sadly the only real engamegoal is abbaroth and uberroth and that’s that.

The difficulty curve of LE was a topic a lot of times and even while I like the game and I think the devs of LE are good people who do a lot of stuff right I also think they can’t balance shit.

ypu can go from a fresh solo-character-found character, to doing monos in around 2 hours, and from therer you will be getting 2-4 levels per echo until you get higher… how is that too long?

The game was once balanced. But since they added tons of extra content giving you extra xp, rares and most of all, legendaries. The endgame is still challlenging because the difficulty literally scales up to infinity.

I already do that. The worst possible build is still really good. Or do you mean chosing affixes that are useless with the skills you use?

I hate this view. Why say it? Because you don’t end up using the loot endgame? So what? The campaign doesn’t have infinite difficulty, so by definition it will be easier than endgame. There should still be some challenge. There used to be, but all the extra content caused too much power creep. I suggested they reduce the occurence to a 50% chance.

Yeah, not really. It may not hve been quite as bad as it is now, but I wouldn’t have ever called LE “balanced”, there’s always been more effective builds than others.

Ive still played LE after 1.0, 1.1. and now 1.2. I agree that LE campaign and early endgame is just too easy. The argument “come back at corruption XY” is actually not an argument. By game design it would be better overall to go a bit harder in campaign. Not PoE 2 harder. But you should feel progress by using better gear. Im saying this while LE is since launch my favorite ARPG.

If you started monoliths at lvl 71, that is probably the issue. You are way overlevelled. Most people don’t even finish the campaign before going to monoliths which unlock very early. The campaign is easy for new people to get familiar with the game and early monoliths are easy for people to get familiar with how they work. It’s a breeze and then it’s not. Empowered monoliths are a significant increase in challenge. And they scale infinitely, you can keep going to make it harder and harder.

I just started a new character and I’m just cruising through the campaign till I unlock all my passives/idol slots and then straight to monoliths where I will rush to complete them on the way to unlocking empowered. That’s where the endgame is.

didnt even bother reading the rest of the replies in this thread because im just so confused by the OP. complaining that it’s too easy but you followed a guide that was probably authored by some chronically unemployed gamer? do you see the irony here?

I would suggest just putting a campaign veteran difficulty for people like me and OP who would like a bit more of a challenge going through the campaign. A difficulty that also rewards you with a slightly better drop-rate or something similar.
I enjoy going through the campaign, despite having a good deal of hours in the game. I’m a casual who try not to follow guides, and even for me, I feel like I have 20 hours of one-click-everything-dies-experience when going through the campaign.

Personally, I want Masochist Mode to come back, could also make for a great new ladder (fastest to complete campaign deathless) and it should unlock Empowered Mono right away (still gotta unlock each mono the normal way, just starts with Empowered as an option) and this would be an amazing option for veterans who like the challenge and ladder lovers for fastest no-death clear (so the maso ladder would be shared between standard and HC). It should get some tweaks, as I recall Majasa was practically impossible on release for the maso character I was leveling at the time (my fault for not enough health regen but she was still kinda overtuned on release regardless) but if it maintains a genuine threat the full campaign and really forces you to know the game, maybe even grind a zone or two once or twice, it’d be great. Even better if going for the ladder forces solo stash, but the option to go account stash once hitting Monos should be possible.

Did you grab the cursed boots in the starting zone. If you use those the campaign will be much more difficult.
