The ring would work better though. Losing the only one boots slot might be unfun even for the people who wants challenge. Or just charm slot.
Yeah, because a simple toggle instead of wasting a gear slot is “reworking the entire game”.
Ok, so if they added a toggle, how would the game know what to do with that?
Plus, I find the irony amusing that people want a harder mode but complain that using a boot slot makes the game too hard. An option (like it used to be), would, obviously, be the better option, but that requires work which they’ve not done. And no, I don’t know why the MP client didn’t have it while the original offline client did.
Probably because you’d have to use separate realms for them (kinda like HC and SC are separate), otherwise the game wouldn’t know how to handle the combat when you join a group with someone that is in easy mode. Or they would have to figure out how to make it.
At least with the boots it’s easier. You have have bonuses/penalties associated in your gear and nothing has to be changed. They’re just affixes that slot into the damage and defense formulas.
Yeah, but you could do that anyway, “just” have the harder mode be a set of non-cleansable debuffs on the player, they deal 50% less damage & take 50% more. “Simples”.
Yeah, but that is more effort overall. You’d have to create “global buffs and debuffs” which is something that doesn’t exist yet.
However, affixes more more/less damage or more/less defense already do. So this “solution” only requires creating a new item and changing nothing else in the game. It’s the lowest effort possible for the end goal.
Ummm, how is that any different than the game knowing what to do with gear??? It’s very obvious it’s the same thing as far as coding complexity, and a toggle is strictly better in terms of player reception.
Being this disingenuous is really embarrassing when you aren’t even getting paid.
Because the game has been built from the ground up to do stuff with gear. MP, apparently, hasn’t been built from the ground up to have a toggle for difficulty mode.
What part of what I said do you think I know but am pretending not to know?
I suppose they were refering to a toggle to enable/disable the functions embeded in those boots, so it would be the same but not taking an equip slot. I guess it could work if they don’t want to change anything else about it.
No, they wanted a toggle (harder mode v normal) instead of the boots, which is fair, but they’d still need to code what the toggle does & stuff.
There is a big update coming to NRFTW soon, they bought the publishing rights from Take2 and have changed almost everything, look interesting
