Well except for the fact they are offering full refunds to people who felt misled by the kickstarter and didn’t buy on steam. So I’m not sure what your point is with respect to THIS game.
THANK YOU
I am so sick and tired of all these people begging to be put into virtual poverty so they can satisfy their virtual job need. I am here to have fun
It just doesn’t scale. ARPG economies worked, back when it was early 2000s, you weren’t bald yet and playing in a tiny community on a tiny island off the coast of a former prison colony.
But once you have thousands of actually experienced players with access to the same amount of information it either turns into a rat race or progression-destroying abundance.
No it isn’t. You are not excited that you dropped a good item, you are excited that you can sell it off and buy something you actually want. Something you’d probably could farm yourself if the droprates weren’t dumpstered in the name of the almighty economy
We plan to continue to introduce new ways to target farm certain items and to tune the potency of existing methods all the way up to 1.0 and afterwards. There are definitely build enabling items that are too difficult to reliably find right now. There are several Idol affixes such as the Smite Chance on Hit affix that are prime examples of that. This is something we aim to fix in future updates.
Apparently it depends on where in the loading process you are when the item drops. For part of it you are in the zone (according to Mike).
But if he’s running that far ahead is it really mp with him since he’ll have cleared several screens by then.
I’m a strictly solo player and I don’t care how trading works AS LONG AS my droprates and my progression are not tied to a virtual market.
Please do not throw everybody under the bus just to satisfy virtual trader tycoons.
Hi friend. I was being ironic. I did not like this decision and for sure it killed the game before being born. How do I know? Well, 10 friends which I talked about the game, showed, etc. are not interested anymore because of this limited vision/decision. I saw the Dev Stream which occured a day later after the announcement. Although it could been implicited as a possibility this implementation can be only for a test to 0.9 and changed later, there is also the possibility it’s not and the game is already failling on sales before even the patch comes (cause only by me it’s 10 less units sold, imagine the number considering all the negative comments around and the friends of those who were upset).
I play in a multigaming clan of 3k+ people. Before the announcment 875 people had the role to look into the LE part of the Discord and now there are 12 left. This WILL NOT happen everywhere but for a lot (I only call it a lot for my cases sake :D) of potential buyers this is a dealbreaker.
I#m no dev and I have no idea how complicated it is to programm stuff and how complicated things are when you programmed a game without it from the start. I for my part would be ashamed to announce a dumped down D3 “trade” system. We’ll at least the devs of EHG have balls I give them that.
Yep for sure is a dealbreaker for a lot of people. This “PR” of “Our Vision” I’m not sold. I imagine the real motives from the devs for this decision is not what they wrote but more deep context like not well planned time needed to balance the game considering trade, huge possibility to postpone again multiplayer release date in a really short deadline because of major titles coming (d4 and poe2) resulting in high risk of being forgotten before coming to light, cut of costs because of ammount of work needed among side others I can’t imagine right now.
Meh. I’m starting to get a bad feeling about all this. How long has it been since we’ve been waiting for the big trade announcement/decision from EHG? Frankly I expected much more, with how much thought and considerations supposedly went into this… And this is it? This super limited, uncreative “gifting” system?
Why is this game even multiplayer at this point, if I may ask? Post talks about “facilitating a great co-op experience” and I don’t really see this system doing that. Most people don’t have friends who are constantly available to jump into the game whenever. People won’t be able to keep up with each other, playing in a group becomes pointless, therefore you can’t “gift” to help out, and there’s no trade so you can’t help out at all.
Anyone who points out any sort of criticism, is as always, told to shut up, because “go back to PoE, you filthy PoE fans, this isn’t PoE, blah blah”. Man, I don’t even play Path of Exile. I play Diablo 2 and Grim Dawn. Stop acting like people can only want trade if they play PoE.
0.9 is only coming in March and will still be missing a ton of content that we’ve been waiting for since forever now. Remaining masteries where? It’s been what, 2 years plus by now? I still remember that old roadmap, the one that also still had “bazaar” item trading system in it. Have they even been worked on at all?
All the resources got poured into multiplayer clearly. Except multiplayer doesn’t do much at all. I had my concerns about this happening for a while now. Multiplayer is great and all… But what exactly will happen once people flood into Last Epoch, invited by their friends, or drawn by the fancy promise of “multiplayer”… into a still very much unfinished game? Especially if the multiplayer is subpar.
Why is that? It’s exactly the same reason GGG gives for relying so heavily on trading, or the Sea of Thieves devs give for not having PvE servers…
I’m not being toxic or nothing, but also do not believe in any “Chris’s Vision” for PoE or any “PR” GGG tries to sell. In China PoE is much different. In a badway for some implementations but mostly in a better way with QOL things we do not have here.
You are over thinking it. Please re-read the OP, they were very clear. All iterations did not meet their goal of not having trade overshadow actually playing the game. The loot will be there if you play the game. If it is not ,then I would say provide that feedback so they can continue to work on that balance.
I’ve read, friend. But just can’t believe this is the truth at all. Sorry.
BUT I still think there is a possibility of change as the dev said on his stream on day after of the announcement. This implementation could be only for 0.9 for test purpose and community feedback. Maybe they will change for official release, who knows? But if not… well they will suffer the con$equence$ (as I said on my original post, only by me 10 less potential buyers).
I’m intrested to see those improved droprates. I always have bad luck with games and the last time I was looking for an Exsanguinous it took me arround 180h. It’s not my vibe anymore to have farm times like in LI2.
If the game is good and the seasons don’t happen at the same time a good hack n slay will be played no matter what. I even find time to play Hero Siege seasons from time to time just for the lulz. I don’t think this risk is valid.
I gave a lot of negative feedback to stuff I disliked and noone ever told me “Go back to…” That’s a kind of a stupid thing to say that will result in people being negative. I just keep myself in check and try to be less german then I am because right now I’m civil and normaly get to my point in more drastic words. Still so far noone was negative and I’m here for years.
Still I’m with you… I start to get a bad feeling about all this as well :).
I feel like the forums are a bit more civil in that regard. I see it more often on Reddit to be fair. But still, even in this thread, there are quite a few comments trying to discredit people’s opinions just because they supposedly play game X. And I fail to see what that has to do with anything.
We are all here because we care about Last Epoch. Not about PoE. Not about Diablo. Not about any other game. We want Last Epoch to succeed and voice our concerns, because we are worried. Not because we want this game to be a clone of another game.
Yes, sure, but not in a context where the competion will prevail on the mainstream for years to come and people cannot be in the same place at the same moment. What I’m saying is: if the devs keep not being open minded and cut options in a scenario where we have major releases on the same genre they will cut sales and player base to.
And, that is the stupidest fucking reasoning… ever! You have to play the game to be able to afford to trade for items. You trade for items to play the game. You have to play the game to get the levels to equip the items. Etc etc etc. All this nonsense about not playin teh game derp de derp, is just moronic.
Wanting people to feel excited when they see a drop is vastly overshadowed by the disappointment in killing your target drop mob for the 50th time and still not seeing your item fall.
But, in the end, this is a dead horse. the devs have made up their minds, and their flock have rallied in blind-faith support of it.
Yeah but you see what LE is. Let’s be honest here… the devs made up their mind and they want to push their agenda down our throats if we like it or not. If you dislike it refund the game if you can and be done with it because you wont miss much if the devs of LE don’t go into overdrive.
It’s their game and it’s their narrow minded beliefs that brought us to this point and it’s legit because they are the devs after all. Are they worng? Hell no they do only wrong for players who like trade. Do they care? Nope they don’t and that’s obvious because they had hundrets of of posts about the topic and came up with a bland sad excuse of a trading system that’s so fubar I would be ashamed if I had anything to do with it.
If this keeps going and they kill the patient with teir cure then so be it. Lokk at Warhammer 40k inquisitor Martyr. It was a totaly different game in Beta/EA stages and the “Me want another generic hack and slay game!” crowd changed it into the game it is today… a niche shitshow people play because Warhammer 40k.
Noone is able to please everyone while it is easy to do right here and right now. Make open trade servers and no trade servers and be done with it. This will split the playerbase yeah but that’s the only way to tell what way will work for the most people.
BTW I ask myself how an announcment like this “Fear not, friends will be able to freely gift items between each other as long as they have been friends for a reasonable amount of time.” can still be found on the kickstarter page in the trading section when everything they wrote there was changed and make them look like they don’t care to update it. If you get the wrong people in they will start with all the liar and scammer sprech noone needs.
Then again it’s good to see that EHG ISN’T perfect and either not up to the task given or fickle about their descission making in the past present and most likely in the future.
