after more than a year im back to last epoch and noticed a big load of changes and additions to the game. one of which would be several new stats and affixes. is there any kind of guide around on how skills actually scale on stats and affixes? ive noticed a bunch of tags at the bottom of each skill tooltip and if i use alt it shows a littel bit more of informations but not enough for my liking. for example smelters warth: its tagged as physical, fire, melee, channeled and strenght. are all of those stats scaling the same? like fire damage, melee fire damage, physical dmg, etc?
So when you hold [alt] whiel hovering over a skill you will get a little bit mroe advanced tooltips which tells you the scaling from different attributes.
Some attributes give skills X% increased damage, some give Y flat damage of Z damage type, for minion skilsl soem attributes also increase the minions health etc.
All of that increases calculated of the skill’s base damage, which can only be modified by the skill’s spec tree.
You can also press [G] ingame to open up the Game Guide, which has some decent explanations about several different topics, like damage effectivness etc.
In addition to Heavy’s answer. If a skill has multiple damage element tags (like Smelter’s Wrath’s physical and fire) that usually means the skill’s base damage is split evenly. However there are a few skills that are multi stage (Primalist’s Tempest Strike which has both spell and melee) where different tags affect different bits of the skill (the melee tag only affects the melee hit and the spell tag only affects any proced spell). The Mage’s Elemental Nova skill is similar in that its fire tag only applies if the skill creates a fire nova.
Minion summon skills also can have a single attribute affect the minion (eg strength) but a different attribute will affect the minion’s skill (I’m mainly thinking of the Primalist’s companions).
