Not really a gameplay comment, but would you please consider making a part of your website where the latest updates can be easily seen?
Right now, you have four different sub-forums with important announcements (announcements, news, dev blog, and patch notes). Each one has to be visited manually, and as far as I can tell, you can’t sort them by original post date (only by last activity).
Is there no way to see a simple feed of “here are the latest messages from EHG to the community” across all these categories? I’m not really sure what the difference is between a blog post, a news entry, and an announcement, for example. I’d love a simple way to be able to just keep up with the goings-on.
Is that really where the devs post things now? It’s too bad, that app is so spammy and noisy and it’s hard to find anything. It also doesn’t show up in web searches, sigh. (Yes, I’m just old and grumpy lol.)
They’ve always posted things there. You can do what I do which is to simply mute the channel and check it whenever you want to see what’s going on. The news channel especially.
They also post most of the stuff here, but as you said in several categories.
And they also post to reddit.
But I think the news channel in the discord is the most “complete” one.
I’d still vastly prefer a single, simple website that has all the news. I would prefer not to have to use a bloated third-party app just to read blog posts.
There’s also the steam community page, but you’ll get a lot of “spam” from other posts there.
Honestly, I think discord is the easiest one. Just mute the channel and check it every now and then. When it’s an important announcement they tag everyone so it still pings you.
Or you can mute the other channels and it will ping you on new posts in that channel. It’s what I do.
I hear ya, I just hate the Discord app itself. Especially on a Mac, it’s just so incredibly janky. I’d prefer never to use it if I could. Anyway, this isn’t about Discord. It’s a request to have a simple page with the latest news.
I can understand that. Although you can just check it on your browser without having to open the app.
But from what I see they put almost everything here in the forums. So it might just be easier to check the 3-4 categories.
The posts the devs make also tend to have a lot of activity for some time, so you can also see it in the latest posts section, which is where I see most of them.
Game developers and publishers rarely use a single channel to distribute information about the game anymore. Patch notes you will always find here, but if you’re looking for answers beyond that, there’s reddit, discord, interviews with fansites or commercial news sites, and don’t forget about the weekly dev stream on Twitch! Those are most Fridays, including the one tonight.
