Oh yeah they changed Decayed Skull I completely forgot that change.
And yeah forgot the relic as well (even though I am using it on my ES Void Knight xD)
That happens when you prematurely answer a post withotu thinking too much about it
Other sources of generic DR or less damage taken from DoT would apply multiplicatively anyway so doesn’t matter. With multiplicitive sources of DR you can never reach 100% DR.
There is no “hard cap” that will be checked after any calculations and then will cap something off.
The formula for calculating armor mitigation has diminishing return in it already which makes it harder and harder and harder to get more and more armor.
Again, that is not what tunklabs says (and they got their info from datamining the game). Check armor graph in tunklab and you’ll clearly see a line at the top saying “cap: 85%”. So there is a cap, even if you normally never reach it.
I am not really sure what we are discussing here since it doesn’t even relate to the OP.
It doesn’t matter if you get 80 or 85% armor for what OP’s question was anyway.
I just wanted to correct your statement about a cap that is applied after calculations.
This cap is an inherent function of the formula that is used for calculating armor.
Yes, we diverged from discussing the OP. But I was correcting your correction.
The formula itself has a cap from diminishing returns, but it’s less than 82%.
And yet, there still exists a cap of 85%.
You will never reach it with the current items/mechanics, but if anything changes and you do reach it, then it’s capped. So there is a cap that is applied to after calculations. You just never reach it in the current game.
Much like armor shred uses a similar formula that plateaus at around -82% but it still has an -85% cap (confirmed by Mike on discord some time ago).
This means that you can’t ever apply more than 85% DR from armor.
Uh… I don’t think that’s correct. And I don’t know if that’s the exact formula for that.
Why did you repeat the armor mitigation there? And did you manage to get 96% armor mitigation for DoTs without accounting the Iron Attunement? So you actually got 133,5% armor mitigation for DoTs?
If that’s the case, then the formula would be simply 82*133,5%, which would result in 109,47%, no?
Actually I am not so sure now. After reading the description of the Iron Attunement node I am getting confused.
Anyway, the conclusion probably won’t change since both results are larger than 100%.
Remember that non-physical damage uses only 60 or 70% of your armour mitigation value, never can remember the correct number.
I had roughly tested it, not a good setup and I barely remember it, but I think I came to the impression that having more than 100% ‘Armour Mitigation applies to dot’ has no further effects.
From my testing it seems to be like this:
If I cap Dots to armor at 100%, and I have armor mitigation at max 85%, I still get around 59% dmg from DOTs. It is not surprising for me and think it works as intended.
Ps. Still not enough to make my sentinel tanky enough on certain corr 600+ level and HP/dps/clear speed lvl, meh Would just to another sentinel, maybe with better results
Now I am really curious about how you got those results!
Did you take a video and then checked it frame for frame and writing down the numbers`?
Or is there a more sophisticated method available?
No, the DoT DR stat specifically says “% of Armor Mitigation also applies to Damage over Time”, not “% of your armor applies to damage over time”… So it should use % armor mitigation.
