I tested all 40 invocations and to summarize (from ENDGAME clearing/single target perspective):
-) 35 invocations are totaly useless; eiter bad physic or to low base dmg (considering lag-from-composing-invocations) comparing to spammable skills.
-) 5 invocations are still weak as a single target but aoe clearing is almost competitive.
Conclusion -in my opinion- drasticly raise dmg of all invocation; like 50-75% more dmg at least. Eiter this or you have bunch of useless skills none will use endgame like in poe.
I think it has to do with the skill tree lacking a decent way to build generic invocation setup, due to the nodes that reward you for putting certain runes in.
Currently for generic setup, the only useful nodes for damage are per rune, per type of rune, penetration per int and cast 1, 2 and 3 rune invocations each use(that last one is too inconvenient due to the cast time of mobility invocation and the need to find a specific combo that synergises)
Which means you need to focus on a specific setup - which is also a problem when it comes to things like ice rune, which only gets freezing chance and not really any increase in damage. Or runic energy, which basically means you do not cast it without full stacks and you pick the cooldown node.
EDIT: Also āfocused runewardsā is the worst skill in the tree for runebolt, being a randomisation of all your runes for zero upside
I disagree on the idea of LLL - it is a DoT, there is actually a better option for that type (FFF)
FFF can be done with frost claw(a DoT spell) and thus you can get 3 frostbites on the target before the invocation is used, frost wall can be set up during the sequence to create even more dots on the target at once.
And I think FFL is bigger DPS than LFF, being an autocrit
LLL might look like a dot, buts its not. Its a jumble of weak hits. It will zap up to 7 targets inside the AOE for 80% added damage 4 times per sec. The orb lasts 4 secs and totals 16 hits, though usually youāll miss the first and possibly the second one due to travel time to target.
16 x 80% = 1280% efficiency which is not bad at all.
Thatās an unfortunate opinion to hear, as Iāve been loving Invocation in the acts so far, and have been looking forward to it in endgame. Still, glad to have this in the back of my mind rather than learning it for myself with no forewarning.
Granted, Iāll experiment with it myself, but this shifts my build plans from using Invocation as the main damage skill to using it for passive buffs and trash clear, with Covergence Lightning Blast as my single-target skill. With Invokeās Transcriber of Power node combined with the Celestial Doom passive, my first guess is Runemaster will be competitive with the Sorcerer treeās flat spell damage nodes.
Also, how is Glyph of Dominion? I havenāt leveled to the point where I have access to it yet.
I have not even gotten much gear yet and IceIceIce seems to melt bosses in early monos.
It does decent damage over time, seems to be better used for its free resistance and ward node though - I keep it on the bar as a emergency clear/defence button
