Inventory makes my GPU go crazy

My GPU’s fan goes absolutely bonkers every single time I open the inventory or the skill tree system, even with all graphical settings set to very low. If I cap it to 60FPS, it still happens. It only abates when I cap the FPS at 30. There’s something wonky going on performance wise with the menus, that’s taking a heavy toll on the GPU.

I’ve same problem after last patch tbh.
My GPU utilizations is like 96-100%, fan starting to go crazy like it was New World on EVGA GPU
After at least one monolith its starting pretty hard, game is working smooth like buttery but GPU uff. If I’ve some video on my other monitor it just get laggy because of what I wrote above, but still imho it’s not normal behaviour.

It doesn’t matter on what graphic settings game run. Right now I’m running low, fullscreen and with Vsync on (before I had borderless and vsync was off with ultra settings).

Hey there…

This is a known problem - there are a few posts that refer to this in different ways…

It happens with Stash windows too and seems to be related to the number of items displayed at the same time (i.e. a stash tab with only 1x1 items seems to load up the gpu more than one with less 2x4 items)… There are other instances where the number of items is less of a factor so its a pretty complicated issue right now. There were similar performance issues with other menus after the recent graphical UI update patch that have thankfully be resolved, but this one has lingered.

On my lowly 1060, I keep my GPU at about 60-70% usage normally by limiting the fps and if I open stash/inventory it maxes to 100% every time.

There is no way to resolve this now… It is affected by in-game settings but cannot be totally mitigated… Running Ultra @ high res etc is likely to make the GPU spike higher and the problem worse…

Using a fps limit, is very important tho… as it will prevent your GPU going too haywire with the inventory/stash windows open… If you dont have an FPS limit then this problem can potentially cause crashes / freezes etc. depending on what else is going on at the same time… (.e.g. opening inventory for some reason while in the middle of a busy map).

As a test, you could try adjusting the fps limit with the stash and inventory windows open while standing in town… and see at what fps level it stops the GPu maxing out at… maybe on higher end systems this could still be at a playable (60fps+) fps?

Best we can do is work around the problem and trust that the devs will get to resolving this as soon as they can…

@vapourfire, thanks for reply. I know that issue was before and read and tested suggested resolves, but nothing worked. Like I said my problem occurred after last patch (0.8.3E), that’s why after seeing that post, wanted to write about it too for more information about it.

I’m testing right now both limiters (earlier tested only on one limiter on) on to 60fps with low settings and borderless and it seems good so far. So really appreciate your information.

Np… all we can do right now is try anything and see if it makes a difference…
Thankfully its not gamebreaking and I have faith the devs will get to dealing with it eventually… hopefully sooner rather than later… I hate GPU fan noise…
