il spend my full life trying to get that 3-4 LP item with 0.00013 drop rate
man i miss Last Epoch 0.7
For me there are a few reasons i havenāt logged in
Mostly i acheived my goals. Secondly and almost as importantly is the performance. This game runs terrible at times. Iāve checked all the settings, done all the things, but the fact remains that you can be 140 fps one second and down to 20 the next depending on what happens on screen. When you couple that with the fact all the cool builds have tons of those effects it kind of dissuades you from wanting to play.
Iāll pop back in on the next cycle and see what all has changed but for now Iām just in between games until D4 S4 starts. Stellar blade is out soon so probably check that out in the meantime
Itās fun in small doses. The game has no built in ālongevityā, because thereās really nothing to work towards. Trying to get 4LP items? Youāre just as likely to get them in the first 2 weeks, as you are in the first 2 years. Never mind the narrow timeframe surrounding a cycle, if thatās your thing. Max level can be reached in just a few days (if try-harding) or a couple of weeks (if more casual), and after that, itās grinding corruption for whatever reason that might be.
Outside of build experimentation, thereās nothing to really keep anyone around, unless they just really are in love with (a)the gameās system(s). Akin to staying with your wife, just because she makes a really mean lasagneā¦
Iām done for now because the game is lacking simple quality of life features that should be present which iāve mentioned a few of, in diablo 4 the few QoL fixes people seemed to want were added within a week of complaints each time they were brought up. Besides that I paid 70 dollars for a game that iāve encountered over a dozen bugs in so far. I beta tested diablo 4 & for the same price I only encounted 3 bugs which were fixed within a week of reporting as well. I understand that itās a small team here but the isssues didnāt magically disappear because the game went live, maybe keep the game in beta when itās still a beta?
To sum up, the game lacks QoL features that the devs donāt seem to care about & the bugs for the price you pay are kind of ridiculous.
I probably wouldnāt care about the bugs if I didnāt try to support the game by buying cosmetics but I just feel scammed at the moment, although I acknowledge that I should have waited until the end game before decided it was worth donating more money. Weāll see if they can improve over time I guess. For now I will just check the forums occasionally & spend my gaming time doing other, more enjoyable things.
I donāt understand why people are surprised player count drops. Every game drops players because of various reasons. People donāt like the game, they had their fun and got dragged to another game, POEās new season, etc etc. There are people like me who are content with build experimentation so we tend to stay if we like the mechanics.
EHG needs to iterate and change a lot of their current system, one of which is arena. I flat out refuse to play non stop for hours just to push arena. Itās not engaging and tedious for no reason. If thatās their idea of ācompetitionā then Iām probably going to lose interest in the coming months because I eventually want to push a build and test its limits.
I donāt think anyone is surprised by it, or even pretending to be. Itās just a bunch of perennial malcontents coming up with any bullshit angle they can think of to āproveā that theyāre justified in not liking the game.
Some people just donāt have the maturity to say āThis game is not for meā or āIāve had fun and now Iām doneā and move on with their lives. āI donāt like itā or āIāve had my fillā isnāt enough for their ego. It has to be that the game is bad, and that everyone agrees.
Had a lot of fun, but itās slowly wearing out.
First leveled a Minion Necromancer, got killed in Empowered Monoliths in one hit with no clue why, tried to improve my defense, but still some of the fun left me. Then tried a Runemaster Mage with Frostclaw build, but just having to play the story again (and only for passive points and idol slots) was annoying, especially since the only āadvantageā you can get are unique items. And even with that, you still feel like youāre traveling very slowly. I would like to see a kind of āadventure modeā like in Diablo. But after I had completed the story and made the first monoliths, I was disillusioned. Something is still missing, but I canāt say what. The game has great systems and great ideas. Iāll certainly look into it again, but for the moment my motivation is elsewhere. Especially as Diablo 4 is included in the Xbox Gamepass, Iāll take a look there. And Season 4 steals a lot from LE, so I donāt think Iāll stay there for long either, but thatās due to a general aversion to Blizzard since Immortal.
But I really hope that Last Epoch has a long future, the potential (at least 3 LP :P) is there!
-Not certain why any of this is confusing to you, even after reading all the back and forth.
-ARPG-- You play the current cycle until it bores you. You play other games. You come back when thereās a new cycle/things/updates/fixes to explore/tweaks that change things up.
-You play the changes until bored, then play other thingsārinse and repeat.
-Not sure if youāre deep in the mmo whirlpool which sucks you in and makes you play nothing but THAT game so you expect to be continually given just enough to keep you in THAT grind? This isnāt an MMO.
Having said all that, I DONāT exactly disagree. I invested crazy hours into this game only to NEVER successfully move ONE attribute onto a legendary on ANY character so I decided to take a break for my sanity. Iām never a fan of beating my head on a wall after hundreds of hours.
Live and learn and all that.
in a way this is the same problem i have, but i never took it that far.
when i saw the drop rates vs LP chances vs slams, i lost interest in the crafting system very fast (you only need to hit your head once to feel it).
i spent my time playing with random builds, combining different things and easily went past 700 corruption.
i have over 540 hours on 1 class and could easily double/triple/quadruple that, if the crafting system was better and skills worked better/properly.
these 2 things being good, is a huge impact for players to enjoy the game when so much other stuff is bad/broken.
because you can still spend countless hours playing with items and skills while devās do what ever.
monoliths are already repetitive more than enough as it is, i wont be grinding corruption if its not shared between all characters.
the impression a game leaves you with is very important for people that would return.
yes cycle 2 will be a better indication because of all the changes they have talked about, but im not holding my breath, because the game has tons of stats that devs invested huge amounts of time implementing, but some skills that apply some of those stats dont even function properly.
i think my basic expectations of having at least 2 systems being good is too high. thats my fault i guess.
Honestly uninstalled it, the cycle offered nothing new, trading isnt really trading, so that bored me straight away, grinding monoās is mind numbingly boring after a couple of hours. The campaign is dogshit in all honesty, no matter how many graphical changes they do, it will remain dogshit,
LE is the last game i buy into early, will check out no rest for the wicked after its been out a little while maybe.
Not played a game in well over a week now, got some sun(if its out)touched some grass, been fishing etc, lived life. Much better than looking like some of those saps streaming LE looking bored as sin gotta say.
Iāve posted this before, I generally agree with this assessment. I played Necro, my best friend and his kid played Pally and Void Knight. Once we got to empowered monos, I was far and away the most powerful of the three, to the point where they told me they felt they didnāt even need to be there. Playing with my class just sucked all the fun out of it. They soon quit, and since I didnāt have anyone to play with, so did I.
These 2 are kinda blended. There is too much time wasted to get too where you want to be. I want to push Arena but itās pointless because you have to regrind 100ās of waves instead of starting where you left off. So itās not a competition itās a waste of time.
There are builds that can easily do 1,000 corruption but it takes too long to push that high so you waste āweeks of timeā to get there before you start to play the game. People quit because we are waiting for a fast track to get us into a competitive mode.
People donāt want to spend weeks or hours every session wasting time. They want to log in and get to the fun. Obviously Arena key of memory should put you without 25 waves of your last attempt. Maybe I want to push 100 waves and teleport to town to save. No one wants to regrind pointless waves again just cause. Hard pass on Arena till itās fixed.
Gaze of Orobyss should be 25 corruption each first 2 stacks then each stack after should double. So the 3rd stack is worth 50 and the 4th is worth 100. Then you kill Orobyss and gain 200+ corruption in 1 reset. Tada you get people into the content they should be in. It becomes competitive instead of a waste of time.
There are obviously other problems the Devs say 350 corruption is a successful build but in reality if your build can only do 350 corruption itās a failure and never got to play the game when other builds are doing 1-2,000. The community sets the guidlines on a successful build (what is S tier) and that is currently 1,000+ corruption.
What makes a build successful is - can it tank all mechanics and make them irrelevant. That is the fun in playing an ARPG to become an unkillable God. No one is looking for a Dark soul experience where you get 1 shot if you donāt move so please give ALL builds the abilitiy to get there. Not just Ward.
The honeymoon is over. Simple as that. Race to the next release.
Iām still very much satisfied with Last Epoch. Two big reasons:
- time constraints (job, girlfriend, other hobbies)
- I want to play so many builds that I never run out, rather have 10 chars at 90% progression than play the same thing over and over to 101%
I concur that people for which neither of those apply have been done with the game for weeks at this point.
I stopped playing after I noticed there wasnāt a noticeable difference at higher corruption regarding better item drops. Also, getting a 3 LP on Exanguinous was getting very frustrating after having farmed endlessly for it with Circle of Power.
The endgame also got very boring, doing monos over and over again. To add injury to insult, building up corruption on a second character takes way too much. Corruption should scale much faster for someone who already has another toon.
Having to redo the campaign all over again for a new character was also very annoying. I might have tried more than 2 builds if I wasnāt forced to do the campaign for every new character.
Hopefully season 2 will fix some of these things and weāll see some new content added.
Diablo 4 destroying their own game by constantly nerfing to āshake up the metaā caused the spike. With the exception of a few posters/streamers, the overwhelming majority of current LE players are just tired of seeing items/builds gutted every few weeks. I like what Iāve seen so far and wish I dumped D4 a looooong time ago.
(Note: sometimes I post things just cause I like to watch threads burn)
Hell Divers 2 player numbers are still going strong!
- difficulty of getting high LP does it for me. majority of my time is in Merchant Guild and I find that 4 lp item is so super rare it is disheartenting. by the time the season end i expect my main char to have max build but the way we going i doubt it.
This is a good game, but I think they need to make some large improvements to get the players back. Some ideas below:
All the classes need to be viable, the newer classes of Falconer and Warlock are strong. The rest of the classes need to be strong as well.
Skill effect sounds need more punch.
Drop more loot, its a single player game, people want to feel like they are making progress for the time they spend on it.
Talk a little about what and when we shoud expect the next release people need something to look forward to.
Do some twitch drops or an in game event.
Great work so far, I took a break and am waiting for the next release to get back into it.
Yeah the āwe dont want you to get too farā notions regarding high corruption from some of the dev chats seems like more of this nauseating big brother feeling that Blizzard ran away with. Really the existence of a high performing build means the need to expand skill interaction and performance of other things to create more of them. The community needs to stop calling things broken that should be looked upon as benchmarks. Frost Claw is a good example; great speed/defense/offense. You need that feeling from way more of the build options vs talking about taking its high corruption potential.
