Instantly back to End of Time?

Hey Travellers,
So I see on some streams and on YouTube videos that when people click the Green Portal after completing an Echo they instantly go back to the End of Time. However, when I finish an echo and click the portal I am always hit with a loading screen? Am I missing something? Obviously instantly being back in the EoT is a massive timesaver as the loading screen is a good 5-7 seconds long

Kind of depends on the echo and whether it’s offline or online? Is it after a boss kill or some random stability echo? Some content creators play offline. If you play online, getting dumped to EoT is anything but instant.

I’m playing Offline but that people I see doing it are Online? Doesn’t make sense to me. Like in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_8PBwm6suE if you skip to 1:33 you can see he is instantly back at EoT after clicking thew portal and is playing online as you can see the ‘ping’ bars to the right of his skill bar

Ah, you mean the Echo ‘lobby’, not the Town.

There is also a very short loading screen on this video, so 9/10 it’s gonna be PC-related.
I assume Raxx has a pretty decent rig considering it’s his job to stream.

It’s literally instant though? My rig is 7700x / 4070Ti, 32GB DDR5, Gen4 M.2 so I don’t think it’s PC related? Seen quite a lot of people be able to do this instantly too and just wondering if I was missing something

Echo of a World is not The End of Time. EoT is the “town” with the knight, Agony, gambler, brain NPC, other players, etc.

My Mistake. But yeh, he still leaves the Echo and is instantly back to the Echo ‘lobby’ and I don’t understand how :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s partly your rig but it’s mostly the server. Even though the whole monolith area has a special status in that it all counts as one big area, the monos still have to be loaded (which is why you still wait when you enter one) and then you have to be transported back when you leave. So it might be that you had some bad luck with some server slowdown?

Although, if it happens constantly to you it might be worth looking into. I have the same experience Raxx does. Since it’s all the same zone and things are already loaded, there should be no big slowdown. If you constantly have to see a loading screen going back, then that’s not the expected behaviour. If this is the case, try reporting it with the in-game bug report tool.

I’m playing Offline so it’s not a server issue, however, maybe that is the reason it’s happening? Online might load it all as one area but offline may not? I don’t see why this would be the case but it’s all I can think of? I see people with far less powerful rigs than mine loading instantly so it’s 100% not that. e.g. AnnacakeLIVE on twitch has a 5600x /2080 / 32gb DDR4 and loads instantly. Starting to think maybe it is an offline thing? I get a load screen after EVERY Mono and always have. That’s why I was so confused when I saw people instantly loading out of Monliths once the echo was complete :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s about the same speed for me. My system was top-of-the-line in like 2017, but it isn’t any longer. Are you running off an SSD?

M.2 Gen4. So a lot faster than an SSD

While it’s probably not that, just because you have a more powerful rig doesn’t mean that something in your setup isn’t causing problems. I’ve seen many cases where a better graphics card had issues due to drivers in certain games.
In this case, though, I don’t think that’s it. It’s one thing to get slowdowns on certain actions, but that wouldn’t cause a loading screen to appear where there is none.

It might be, like you said, because of playing offline, though that seems strange to me. But it’s possible that in offline they don’t load the whole instance because a server is bound to have more resources and loading the whole area and keeping it loaded might be a strain on weaker PCs.

I guess the best move for you would be to find out if it happens with other people offline (maybe someone will reply to this thread?). You could just go to the discord and ask the devs, they’re usually responsive there. There’s a channel to specifically ask devs about stuff, you might get lucky there.

Technically M.2 is SSD,(assuming the chips on it are SSD) just a lot faster than mSATA connections

Yeah, being Offline is the only thing I can think of tbh. Thanks for the replies and info and hopefully someone else who plays Offline responds here. I’ll give it a bit then just jump into the discord and try asking

True. But I feel when you say SSD you mean just an SSD and not an M.2. But technically you are correct yes

I just tried an echo on an offline character and it did take longer and show a loading screen. However, I don’t have any offline characters in Empowered, and the online character I tried with was doing empowered, so IDK if that makes a difference.

Ok, tried it on full Offline, definitely took me 6-7 seconds to load the Echo of a World AKA Monolith ‘lobby’ with my old Multismite char in Empowered.

It probably is just an Offline thing then, which seems odd. Thanks for checking though, much appreciated!

It’s probably because of what I mentioned before: a server usually has more resources to keep the whole area loaded all the time. If they tried it in offline, some of the weaker PCs would struggle with that.

Yeah makes sense! Thank you
