Infernal Shade targeting misses very often, so does Shifting Doom

Hi,

Unlike other enemy-targeted spells like Spirit Plague (which never misses as long as you’re casting it in the vicinity of an enemy) Infernal Shade tends to miss quite a lot (as in, the spell is cast and the mana is spent, but it doesn’t stick to any enemy). For some reason, it is especially bad on the Abomination (and probably other big enemies), where at least half of the Shades fail to “stick” event when my cursor is right on it.

Shifting Doom also sometimes latch onto a dude quite far away, and sometimes fails to reattach to someone right besides the Shade, even at 100% chance. I suspect it’s because it actually attaches, but “misses”. This is especially apparent when taking Lingering Flames, at it will latch onto an enemy and disappear instantly.

Of course, this is when Hellfire isn’t taken.
On a sidenote, could this also be why Legion doesn’t work properly?

(Obviously, this is when the duration shouldn’t run out, Shade limit isn’t reached, or anything else that would make this behaviour normal).

I’ve tried to reproduce this issue but I haven’t been able to. If you encounter it again could you please upload a screenshot of your skill tree? A video recording would be very helpful as well, if possible.

Thanks!

Hi,
Damn, wish I had recorded it back then - I unspecced Infernal Shade ages ago because of it, and I couldn’t reproduce it either in the brief try I did right now with a 9-point tree. If I encounter it again in the future I’ll be sure to record it and hit you guys up.

That being said, Shifting Doom is still buggy (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t):

This is with only a straight path to Shifting Doom, which is at 4/4 (so 100% chance).

Ah, and Legion (2/2) still isn’t working at all for me:
