Infernal Shade (Bug and Legion rework)

Hello everyone, below is my unaltered post from reddit on some suggestions for Infernal shade. The first section details a bug, but the second and third sections are suggestions to revamp the Legion node).

Currently leveling a Fire Necromancer and at level 50. It seems to be that Infernal Shade is pretty bugged. I will sometimes cast the spell 4-5 times in a row and get the initial animation and mana drain, but then the shade disappears and no damage is dealt. For reference I have the following nodes: Ignition, Blaze Shade, Fanning the Flames, Influence, Demonic Tether, Cackling Flames, and Shifting Doom. It’s an awesome spell but this bug really makes the gameplay clunky.

Secondly, I think the Legion node needs to be reworked. The above bug definitely makes the node painful, but even beyond that it is relatively pointless. As the spell cost to additional shade ratio is 1:1 and you lose the ability to cast single shades, the only thing the node offers above normally casting the desired number of shades is a few split seconds of spam casting time. With the brutal (and again non-optional) hike in mana cost, the node makes for a very disjointed and un-synergistic rotation. Please let me know if I am missing the point of the node.

Finally, some options to rework Legion:

  • Keep functionality and cost the same. Give 1st shade cast a %damage boost (maybe 25%/50%).
  • Keep functionality and cost the same. Give shades a % damage boost for each other shade within their damage radius (maybe 5/10%).
  • Keep functionality, but reduce the cost and damage per shade (something like shades now do 75% damage and cost 75%, so you end up spending 225% single-shade mana cost).
  • Change functionality and increase the cost: only one shade is cast, but add a fear effect. For each enemy damaged by the shade, there’s a small % chance to cast a new infernal shade on that target for free up to your maximum shade count (perhaps each hit has a 1%/3% chance to recast shade).
  • Change functionality and keep the cost the same: each time you cast infernal shade, consume all of your summoned wraiths to increase the radius and damage of infernal shade by a small percentage.
  • Change functionality: Legion adds a significant mana cost to Infernal Shade, but your Skeleton Mages may now cast Infernal shade on a length cooldown.

Shameless plug, I hope warlock has a significant fire theme.
