We need ways to unite some people from community(and friends!), maybe add some new mode with bigger size maps and the possibility to have more than 4 people playing together.
Imagine a siege map where there is a big open area and 4 ways to “progress” and finish the siege, like helping with the trebuchet, stairs and destroying the gate, everything happening at the same time, and with incentive to do different things at the same time.
I think this could be a great idea for a Cycle Event.
The devs have always said they won’t introduce any content that forces people to play together. All content that is introduced to LE has to be able to be done solo.
Which is a good thing, especially because they have an offline client and they don’t want people to feel like they have to join in raids/parties/whatever or they miss out on things.
Especially because there are a significant number of people that can’t play online, either because of a bad connection, social phobias, etc.
Totally agree with the devs, this SHOULDN’T be forced to play with a lot of people, but it would allow them to play with more people, i’m suggesting a mode that is more like do one of the x number of things and survive the waves, the more players the faster it would become, but it wouldn’t be necessary to play with another people, you will only need to do all the objectives by yourself.
If a… let’s say 8-man group can swiftly breeze through that and hence get a boatload of loot from it which is above the pace of what can be achieved solo in mapping then it’s a clear-cut ‘need’ for those wanting to optimize.
Also since a market - as broken and crap as it currently is - is available this would have direct influence towards that, so a net negative.
And if you make it so it’s visibly below that only very few people will have interest which makes the search for a group very hard.
So you’re screwed if you do it either way.
This would be fine as long as you get no gameplay benefits. Namely, no exclusive drops, bonuses, etc.
If people want to do it for fun only, or for glory or e-peen, sure. Go ahead. You may even get a leaderboard for this.
But no exclusive rewards that improve gameplay.
The leaderboard would also be the only thing going for it then. Can’t even have MTX prices for something like this or people will rage about it since they can’t achieve them without being forced into a group.
Personally, I wouldn’t care if they got an achievement and/or an MTX for it. Bragging rights and all.
It’s no different than joining a league and getting exclusive MTX in PoE. Or getting exclusive MTX from twitch drops.
Just like I don’t care about HC achievements and I wouldn’t care if they got an MTX for reaching level 100.
As long as it doesn’t affect gameplay, ie: exclusive uniques, game bonuses, etc, I simply don’t care.
Yeah, I wouldn’t either.
But see it from another perspective, imagine for example a collector. ‘Now, what do I have to do in this game which prides itself on allowing everything to be done solo? Oh, There’s a MTX to farm up?’ and well, then they look at it and need other people.
For those it sucks.
As for the PoE MTX… solo.
MTX from twitch… solo.
A collector doesn’t care where to get it as long as they can get it on their own. Bragging rights as you say.
I mean… sure??.. I guess???
How many people are actually collectors to that extent?
And, more importantly, how many are actually collectors to that extent that would be annoyed they can’t get that MTX solo vs how many would have fun with a mechanic like this?
This is like saying that PoE shouldn’t have HC achievements (and LE, when it does implement them) because some people are achievements collectors and they can’t get them.
The ones most dedicated to the game? They need to put in the most amount of time and are also those which are likely to invest a surprisingly large amount of money gradually into it. If you got Vanity items then those are the things which they wanna have generally.
And why wouldn’t a HC achievement not be available for a collector? They only need to do it once after all, finish 40/40 and then do that on the side, that’s how those people usually handle it.
Diablo-clones are the prime area where those types of people silently get together, massive amounts of item variety, in PoE legacy items, custom skins on those items… everything which simply builds up over time and them being proud to own as many of it as possible.
