I think this decision is the worst for the game, especially compared to a competitor where I don’t have to pay for content. Why should I do that in Last Epoch?
You’re planning to release paid DLC, even though you haven’t even tried to make money with MTX yet. Go to the POE store, look at what their packs look like, then go to the MTX store in LE. I think if you click any random pack in POE, it looks better than 99% of the MTX packs in LE. Obviously, no one’s buying them from you. Fire those blind designers and hire some real ones.
Besides MTX, there’s also a complaint about the DLC release. Do you have any content in the main game? I think all LE currently has is two mob holes and one uber boss. Each league has 3-6 playable/good/beautiful builds. Each league also has 3-6 days to trade until a dupe is found, after which the trading league loses its purpose. These are, in my opinion, the most noticeable problems in the game; if you think about it, there are many more.
You’re releasing a game on PS5, and perhaps on Xbox and phones in the future, and apparently, given this, you’re greedy and bold enough to go against the community and break your promises regarding paid content.
And I think another thing that’s obvious to everyone: DLC classes will be meta. Why pay if they’re just going to play like any other? And then, when a new DLC class is released, the old one will be nerfed to entice more players to buy the new one. Anyone who’s been playing games for a while has seen this, and if you want your game to become something like the Russian Warface, where this has been a professional practice for 10 years, follow their example.
No, I’m willing to pay $80 for a game, like BF6, if I know it’s definitely worth it. I’m willing to pay for the ultimate MTX seasonal set in PoE simply because I like it, and I’ll do it over several seasons. But if a game’s monetization devolves into a P2W pay-to-play dump where you pay for power, I don’t play those games on principle.
And no matter what anyone says, like them, that it’s an experiment, that it will be balanced—that’s bullshit. At a minimum, it will be meta, and at a maximum, builds built around this class will look even better and be more enjoyable to play. That’s the basis for adding this kind of pay-to-play system to the game; adding it to the game in any other way simply doesn’t make sense.
I play CoF and solo. I don’t have competition in this game. I couldn’t care less about how they choose to monetize.
MG is pay to win just the money goes to some gold farming company instead.
So if your principles are so strong, I don’t see how you could play any multi-player online game.
If someone telling you one thing and then doing another which is not what was established and you think any action because of it is too much… then I guess you don’t understand the basic societal contract.
To say it in the same direction in return as you provided.
Outrage at this is warranted, it’s more odd if someone isn’t pissed off.
If they would at least provide reasonable plans then sure… but instead they state we’ll be provided with a roadmap, wait 7 weeks, give is this absolute pile of steaming shit they provided as a ‘roadmap’ (was worth a lots of laugh for everyone I showed it to, so I guess it was good for something at least) and then go along to state the expansion is free but classes not? Rather then the normal, accepted and other way around? Which would at least be somewhat better… still everyone allowed to be pissed off but definitely more people ‘ok-ish’ with it in the end?
Doesn’t check out.
And OP is right. Their MTX is absolute garbage. The quantity of MTX is garbage. The comparison of their MTX to competition is also garbage. And they did jack to solve any of that in years.
Not to speak of the main game not even being finished and now we get provided with paid DLC? What did you think would happen?
Then you’re incompetent at reading my posts over the last years plainly spoken.
Solid foundation, bad top-end execution.
That’s my stance.
A product which has massive potential but is so grossly mismanaged that you cannot do anything else but rip into it as the massive gold-mine they have is squandered completely.
I wanna see potential realized and promises upheld. Neither happened and the portions which made up for it are getting steadily more and more lost from the side EHG, hence allowing no further leeway and patience.
Game is even still missing 3D models for many items, while the existing ones also look horrible. MTX is ofc either mid or garbage
Making a live-service game that would be benefited from MTX but what EHG invested in this field is pure trash. It makes so much senses why now they are in this bad situation and get sold out.
I wonder what kind of ppl did they even hire? Such a failure in terms of business management…
Then you have big issues with comprehension because LE is build on a flawed foundation. This was told to them over and over again in many regards. They have nice ideas on paper and that’s it.
Their itemization system at the basis is good. Only the top-end of exalteds screws them over.
The idea of how to craft is also fine, once more exalteds and also FP ranges screwing them over.
The passive tree setup is also fine as a mechanic, but the node direction is causing too powerful results in either offensive or defensive areas rather then being more generic or those which are entirely build-defining.
Same with skill-trees, also a fine idea but not well executed.
All their mechanics individually would actually work idea-wise… in realization they’ve taken the first steps and ignored all the follow-up details of finetuning though.
I mean… the LP system is a prime example. Great idea! But having it as a generic ‘everyonce can get 4 LP’ system is just bonkers stupid, especially given we don’t get any multipliers (positive or negative) on the items related to the affixes and LP range… which makes uniques a nigh 100% of the time preffered solution rather then base items, ruining the aspect of item bases substantially.
In theory. practicly they just have completely fucked up items and compensate with a useless skilltree that power could be added to items and nothing will be lost. They created a state where you need power from A and B to get a good result what easiely could have been one system without additional useless hoops to jump through just because some people are skilltree fetishists.
Could be on items as well because not much changes for skills in the end. If you shoot fireballs in a cone or in a row or a giant one, whis all could be handeled without skilltrees that are mostly filler % increases anyway.
As I said… it looks nice on paper but it’s simply useless clutter spread over 3 systems that could be handled one way instead of three ways without adding anything meaningfull to the game.
If you mix up systems there should be a outstanding reason to have each system. Instead we have watered down crappy systems time 3x that looked so promising at one point but that are dull and unispirered at the end of the day. Don’t get me wrong H&S games play it save and LE isn’t much worse then other games in this regard an better then others but at the end of the day useless clutter is useless clutter.
If so, I would understand better that if Krafton fixed this issue, there are two whole leagues to try this and see how MTX will sell if they are made by good specialists, and only if this does not work, then say “give up, we can’t make money, the only way out is… blah blah blah”
