Idol of Loathing graphic card crash

Playing Acolyte, lvl 10 with Hungering Souls, Wandering Spirits and Skeletons active. I found that if I stayed too far away from the enemy, my graphic card would crash/freeze. First time it crashed the computer entirely, second time it froze the computer and the graphic card died.

Staying near the enemy instead (allowing it to trigger its slam (?) attack (the one telegraphed on the ground) allowed me to get past the encounter.

System:
Windows 10.0.19041
Intel Core i5-4690K @ 3.50 GHz
NVidia GeForce GTX 970

Could you upload your crash & log files when this happens?

Sure thing. I couldn’t get it to trigger with my necromancer when I went there at level 26, but my level 10 mage crashed as before.

Edit: Ah, I see that there are other logs to attach, too. Here is the entirety of the crash folder, except the crash.dmp; let me know if you want that, too.

error.log (72.1 KB)

Edit 2: this one is empty, for some reason: Player.log (137.8 KB)

Here’s the one in AppData/LocalLow: Player.log (137.8 KB)

Hey Azaz, did you ever find a fix for this? I am also crashing at the Idol of Loathing, I assume due to GPU/CPU overheat or a memory leak of some sort.

I never found a solution as such, but staying closer to the Idol seems to work better. Overlevelling a little also helps, since that cuts down the time you spend in the scene.
