Yeah, it drops on the ground. I wasn’t aware of this when I logged into one of my characters and saw an idol randomly on the floor in front of me. Turned out to be a pretty important idol from my build.
I can imagine some poor sods logging off, item view disabled or not realising this and their idol is gone for good.
Can you take a screenshot of your idol inventory please as mine seems to have blocks on parts and my Necro has an additional block but prior to the patch had all idol slots open
Thanks, its weird because right before the patch released I got my Necro ready to test Volatile Zombies and they are level 87 with all idols unlocked months ago
There were more idol quests than idol slots, which means you did not have to complete all idol quests to have all you slots. But now that we have four more slots, all quests are probably mandatory
Sure there are some build which got nerfed with this new system. There are also some buffs. Like in any arpg with every new patch, new content will change the meta or builds in general a bit. Before, there was absolutely no use for 1x1, 2x1 idols (at least for the builds i played). Right from the start of creating a new character i already disabled them on my lootfilter. At least now you can use them, even though i agree that the stats are boring. But hey, i sure take free additional 32% on a random resistance or 70 health on a setup like llama posted with 4 1x1s.
That’s not entirely true. Any build (such as a Smite on throwing hit) that used 4 2x2 idols would have got a very small buff by being able to use an additional 4 1x1 idols for slightly better defences (mainly hp, potentially freeing up a resist slot for something else if you got decent resists on the idols).
Just echoing the sentiment here that a design pass is probably needed on non-Adorned idols. Whether to make them interesting or to compensate the loss of options/stacking. Going through Tunklab checking out affix combos to adjust my loot filters feels like a concession of, “Oh well guess I have to settle for this now,” more than, “Hmm, this looks interesting to fit in here.”
Just to clarify I understand and support the change to the idol inventory, just needs some fine tuning and combing through to add some holes to builds. The lack of interesting minion options for my Necromancer’s idols is quite jarring.
However, I think A is incorrect to some degree anyway. What we saw was interesting affixes got nerfed while boring ones got buffed. I think this undermines the devs’ wishes to have choices be more meaningful. False Weight™
