It has been brought up before here, but I have some ideas for how I’d like to see casting handled when your mouse is over unpassable terrain or past unpassable terrain.
If the spell isn’t targeted (always casts at your feet, affects yourself, etc.) then it should just cast normally. If the ability is melee, it should still cast in the direction of your mouse.
If the ability is targeted, it would depend on the ability, but it could cast over the unpassable terrain, cast at the closest passable terrain in the line of sight to the mouse, or if the mouse is over passable terrain but there’s impassable in the way, it could still cast at the mouse.
Some spells already seem to do this well already like Elemental Nova when it’s changed to targeted, but some like Frenzy Totem unintuitively won’t cast when your mouse is over unpassable terrain even though the totem drops at your feet.
Thanks for the great game! About a week in and I’m really enjoying it!
