Idea on making desired blessings slightly more obtainable

I just thought of an idea to “bias” the blessings you want without making it something guaranteed over time or otherwise too easy to get it.

Idea: If a blessing is rejected (i.e. presented to you, but not chosen), you bias it down 1% and spread that 1% across all other non-rejected blessings.

I know, hard to understand. I will use a demonstration of the idea using 10 possible blessings (because I suck at math and 10 makes math easy).

Say I want Blessing #10 out of 10. Assume that all blessings have an equal chance to drop (10% in this case).

Round 1: I am offered #1,2,3. I don’t want any of them, but choose 1 cause it helps a bit.

  • Blessings 2 and 3 are now reduced 1%, making their chance to drop 9%. Blessings 1 & 4-10 absorb that 2%, making each 10.25% chance to drop.

Round 2: I am offered #4,5,6. I don’t want any, choose to Keep #1.

  • Blessings 2+3 are already previously rejected, and now we add 4,5,6 to the rejected list. 2,3,4,5,6 are now 9% each. 1,7,8,9,10 are now 11% chance each.

Round 3: I am offered #7,8,9 (I’m an unlucky sob). I keep #1 still.

  • Blessings 2-9 are all now 9% chance to drop. Blessings 1 + 10 are now 14% chance each.

This is the MAXIMUM Bias this system can generate. No matter how many times I am offered #1-9, my desired one (and the placeholder I select) remain at 14%, the rest at 9%.

The nice thing is that the one I pick also has a bias, and this helps in obtaining re-rolls of the desired Blessing (to get a better roll on it) as well as helping to get to that desired blessing.

I made an assumption about this a few weeks ago, and Shtrak told me it’s not an equal chance. Or at least not all the time.

Like, Reign of Dragons has 11 blessings, but split into one pool of 3 and a second pool of 8. First slot can only be one of those first 3. Second and third can only be from the second pool (with removal). With enough Corruption, the 4th and 5th slot are out of all of the remaining ones from both pools.

Idk where to find this information, but people like Shtrak and Llama probably have it engraved on the back of their eyelids.

Just figured if you wanted to mess around with percentages to have some additional information

cough Metric system supreme cough

P.S. I like your post :3

Yeah, slots 1, 2 & 3 have different pools of blessings that can drop, but within those pools they should be equal drop rates, as an example:

It’s one of two places, https://lastepoch.tunklab.com/ or https://www.lastepochtools.com

That nice thing is, this idea works even if the chances on each blessing are not equal, as it simply re-distributes 1% from rejected to remaining. They don’t have to start off equal.

I like it! I do not even understand why you can not select from all when defeated the boss but this would make it a bit more doable.
