I thought it mentioned Legendary items upgraded to the Exalted level

I could be wrong, but I thought it was mentioned in the original steam posts the day before the launch of 8.4 that the Legendary items would be upgraded, once merged in the Temporal Sanctum, from their unique level to the exalted item’s level making them of use to the player that actually got the exalted item which drops at much higher levels than randomized (possibly very, extremely low) leveled uniques. Last night, in Ending the Storm I had a blasted Humming Bee level 6 drop from a unique area. I could not believe my bad luck. Thankfully the only other unique area I found there in four hours gave me a Battlemaster’s Endeavour (level 46) which I decided to use in the Temporal Sanctum (my first time going in) (took me 3 tries to learn the mechanics). Anyhow, the two handed sword I used was level 77 *Hollow Blade and passed on lightning damage which worked for me given the Battlemaster’s powers BUT the Battlemaster stayed at level 46. For a level 46 character, yes it kicks backside (excuse the language) but that is not what was described in the write up. I see absolutely no reason to create a level 6 humming be with legendary powers but with level 6 stats other than that one stat.

The increased level is based on the level requirements of the affix(es) that got transferred and not the base of the exalted weapon.

In your case Hollow Blade requires level 77 because of the base (see Hollow Blade - Two-Handed Sword - Last Epoch Item Database).

Okay, I guess that makes sense considering that only one affix is moving over and the unique should at least be able to be of a level to “use” the said affix. Thanks for explaining that Iceberg.

As a side note, I think players ought to know that they can go to https://lastepoch.tunklab.com/ and on the left side choose affix and look up the affixes that might possibly move over from the exalted they want to move to a unique and see if it will level up or not and what level it will level up to. For instance, the skill that moved over from my level 77 Hollow Blade was a tier 6 melee lightning damage bonus. Alot of damage but that affix has zero level so when it transfered to the Battlemaster’s sword it did not level up at all. It kept the battlemaster’s level. That’s why I was confused. If I had known the increase would have been based on the affix’s level, I may have chosen a different exalted and tried to rank the weapon up. Then again, it may lead me to choosing to put higher leveled affixes on an exalted (ie plan ahead) if I plan on using a specific exalted on a specific unique and want to try to make sure it gains levels.

How exactly were you expecting the item to change? As I’ve understood it, the legendary transformation should simply add a number of affixes equal to the unique’s legendary potential, recalculate the level requirement and make no other changes.

This part isn’t explained in the patch notes or Game Guide. How does the recalculation happen?

Iceberg explains above, its based on the minimum required level of the transferred Affix(es), and if that doesn’t raise the Unique’s built-in level requirement, then so be it, it stays the same.

As a side note, the highest the Affixes go is level 60.
