I think i ll be forced to vote with my wallet

i’ve been vocal on not giving EHG a cent until they make a statement or manifesto about cycle content being available to legacy players permanently.

but i feel too compelled to just reward you guys with my money. even if EHG doesnt give me what i want. theres just too many wins.

the game is fun. it feels good. i’ve supported GGG for years and honestly have been playing it begrudgingly because there was not many other games that could compete.

i kind of forgot to have fun in poe and i really DIDNT HAVE FUN. losing 10% XP on death. feeling forced to avoid encounters because i didnt want to lose 10%.

playing the game without a starter is pure torment. and even if you did, it was a shitty experience where you got shit drops and always needed to rely on trade.

EHG solved a huge ass list of issues that GGG COULD HAVE SOLVED but REFUSED. EHG is giving what players want. and what players want is a bucket load of fun. i skipped rerolling a new character and played my old one. ended up spending 1.5 hours before i forced myself away. I had fun before this season i had MORE fun this season and i foresee myself having even more fun going forward.

and to top it all off, the TOP tier pack is affordable to me. not like GGG’s 360 (or was it 420?) USD packs?

keepitup EHG. i m very happy to see your player count surpass POE’s.

I fell like the same.
Before stop playing Poe, I see myself think about losing XP and other things.
And so, I understood the game wasn’t funny anymore, actually the game lost his funny.

Back in the day, Everquest was created and run by a man named Brad McQuaid, who famously said that players needed to be punished as much as possible in order to feel challenged. There, you’d see devs run raids in towns where the players were supposed to feel safe, but would be repeated slaughtered and lose upwards of 3 levels. A level could take days to get, but could be lost in just moments.

I’m convinced that Jonothan is at least an admirer of Brad, if not a student.

i think once upon a time this was true. we had more time and less choice for games. so players could take more punishment. there also needs to be a line drawn between punishment and unfun. now is not the same as back then. back then we only had a few games with no options. now? if the game is unfun. we simply dont play it.

people play soulslike because its punishing but despite that its FUN.

poe’s new patch intends to add more item drops. its a good step but a tad too late. in any case even if they fix poe2. i m still more hyped for LE right now. i’m already having fun.

All the loot drops in the world won’t change the fact that only LS huntress is a viable build these days.

Jonothan proved your very point. If a game isn’t fun, people leave to play other games. If EHG is smart, they will capitalize on this by emphasizing that they still believe in fun and powerful characters, along with great loot.

Came back to peek around with Season 2 and it didn’t take long for me to check back out. I want to like the game and I do think there are aspects of Last Epoch that can contribute to this goal of “Making the best top down AARPG on the market”. However for every one of those positive attributes theres 10 negatives that set it back.

One of those negative attributes is the attitude of some of the developers. One of the big sticklers for me is the gender restricted classes and 11th Hour has done a great job of hiding this as being one of the more popular requests or sources of feedback over the last year. There are many subjects where there are multiple duplicate topics of and those discussions often tend to go on for weeks before an admin cites duplicate topic and closes one down, sometimes they don’t even bother. Want to set a record for getting a duplicate topic closed? Make one regarding gender locked classes. The developers have given some pretty long winded answers regarding why but if you translate it to show through the smoke and mirrors it boils down to they never bothered creating the animations for them in the first place and there’s no profit in going back and doing so. That tells me a few things, one of which being starting from the ground level they didn’t build their entire character model/skeleton system properly and if that’s the case what foundations haven’t been built properly? Also with 11th Hour citing devoting time to gender animations not only being expensive but taking away from other development choices I would like to point out the sheer amount of negative additions to the game that NO ONE WAS ASKING FOR. Maybe perhaps listen to your players and you’ll be able to retain the player counts. It’s what good games do.

For me the gender thing isn’t quite a deal breaker for me though I do find it distracting from my immersion. However it is a deal breaker for my significant other who only ever wants to play a female mage. Since I can’t play with her, I don’t play your game.

Would you cut it out. Only people of a certain type(narcissists) care about that. Literally every other person on the planet can play a video game as a guy/girl character and not give it a single thought. I don’t care if they do put it in, but for it to be something that stops you from enjoying an ARPG of all things, it is literally childish and absurd. Grow up.

i think its in EHG’s best interest to one day make gender options for all classes. but i think that is very far away in the future. i really prefer undecember’s approach where players actually start out classless and get to choose whichever gender they want.

i hope the ship has not sailed.

it is not a dealbreaker to me but its more of a nice to have. its a shame your partner cant overlook the gender thing. then again the fact she enjoys gaming with you is quite a feat.

I honestly don’t know where you get this and this is demonstrably false. There is currently one suggestion thread open about this and it’s been open for more than a month now.
There are multiple threads about this that have all been auto-closed after 90 days without replies (which is the standard for the category).
There is also another one that relates to this in the Rogue category which also hasn’t been closed.
There is even a suggestion thread that has been opened and interacted with since 2020. It’s still open.

Devs rarely close topics and usually only do either when that topic is being spammed (usually by the same commanding, imperial user), or when the discussion is devolving in tone.

Also, they have said, on several occasions, they will do this in the future, there are just more important things to deal with first. Especially things that affect the whole playerbase, rather than a small part of it.

Such as?
