I think EHG's business decisions need to be applauded as well!

The game has quite a lot of bugs. A lot of its systems miss a lot of polish, and there are many things that we could reasonably argue should’ve been in 1.0, however, if I look at what we got with 1.0, it’s precisely and exactly what you’d expect from a solid ARPG experience. So, management clearly has a healthy relationship with the Game Design team. Ultimately, they successfully shipped a product that correctly identified the market’s needs across their features.

Another thing is the timing of the release - while LE has all the power to stand on its own, and, in my opinion, overtake PoE in terms of players, the reality is, if LE’s release were to have overlapped with PoE’s or so, it would’ve hurt massively. So, props to that as well. Am sure internal processes/resources were reshuffled to ensure the game releases on February 21st, since it was a “free window”. Honestly, I really hope that they have 1.1 ready, and that we’ll only be 2, max. 3 months into 1.0 before it releases. It would help cement LE’s place as the go-to ARPG for non-super-hardcore players. It would be amazing if EHG manages to ship 1.1 late April/early May. It’d give them a full month (and change) of people trying out 1.1, before the PoE2 craze arrives. I hope that LE will become the game PoE needs to worry about (actually, it’d be better if both co-existed in “peace”), but for now, it’s something that it needs to take heavily into account…then again, I’d be very interested in some data about how many people alternate between the games, but that’s a discussion for another thread

Another thing is, I recall Mox saying that they really waited a long time for a proper investor, because they didn’t want to be bound by this or that “corporate view”. I’ll assume it’s true, and not just something that you’re taught to say, and if that’s the case - that’s really valiant, although risky. Can’t imagine how you had to prioritize things to ship, people to talk to, and so on. I hope Tencent maintains a healthy relationship, only stepping in when it’s relevant.

Of course, the entire EHG team is great, but I haven’t seen a single person congratulate management, which probably had to juggle the biggest amount of pieces. Really hope you guys manage to get 1.1 out a good few weeks before PoE 2’s Beta. Can’t wait for it!

EHG’s management are all gamers like ourselves, truly. And not a bunch of c-suite in suits parachuted in to drive financial success. This much is clear and explains their tenacity to grind at polishing the foundation of the game for almost 6 years before releasing 1.0.

As long as they remain guided by their true north, I’m sure LE will have a bright future ahead.
