I only disagree with this because of gear implicits. Since you don’t have uniques for every base type, very often having an exalted with the correct implicit is better than a 4LP unique.
If we had uniques for every base type, then I would certainly agree.
I wasn’t actually arguing for or against it. I was mostly just addressing the statement that if things change it’s because players or devs weren’t happy with them. Which is a true statement, of course. But players not being happy with something doesn’t mean it’s bad for the game.
It will all depend on how many players aren’t happy. If it’s a vocal minority (which tends to be the case), then the change might be bad for the game. (Likewise, a vocal minority can also advocate for not changing something and that might also be bad for the game).
As a general rule, if there’s any point of attrition in the game, you’ll have players asking for that attrition to be removed. But a game without attrition is a boring game.
That was pretty much my whole point. I preferred the previous LP system, but I don’t feel strongly enough about it either way. It could remain the same or you could choose all affixes and I still wouldn’t feel strongly for either option.
This is mostly because I tend to not go too deep into endgame and keep making new characters, so I don’t really interact with the LP system as much as a min-maxxer.
