Hi everyone!
I might just be too stupid to understand the inner workings of it, but I cannot figure out the Marchant’s Guild.
I am very familiar with auction houses like the ones in World of Warcraft, but in Last Epoch, it feels like 90% of the listings are giving away the items, or overcharging an insane amount.
I know that there are gonna be people who will post a trash item for 100 mil just because they can, but just looking at idols, there are almost 50k listings with 0 gold cost?
There are over 1.7 million listings of just idols.
It feels like such an impossible task to look through your stash, search up an item, figure out if it’s worth anything at all or if people are giving it away.
I save a ton of things, and have a very organized stash, but even with multiple level 80-90 characters, I have not found a single item that isn’t being sold for 0 gold.
Even all my 1LP and 2LP uniques are just being given away.
I know that there are people out there who are making MILLIONS by selling items, and they very clearly have a different understanding of the guild than I do.
I feel so lost, and I have tried for so long to figure out what items are actually worth something. I have tried to look through the Bazaar for items I don’t even have, just to try and get an understanding of the listings, but it feels so difficult to search through.
I’ll select newest listings. Go through and try to find a good item. Look at the price. Wow, millions. Cool, I then search for that specific item and boom. 200 listings of it being sold for 0 gold.
I rinse and repeat the attempt, but I just cannot fathom what people are looking for.
Does anyone have any tips?
Should I just ignore the guild and focus on farming high corruption instead until I find 3-4 LP uniques?
Edit: Spelling lol
Economic system with High Supply, Low Demand, and no resale results in what you’re seeing - vast no/low cost ‘bottom’ and an extremely expensive upper end.
Honestly - I would not worry much about making money on it this league. Buy what you need from the low cost options and hopefully 1.1 will introduce a lot of QoL for listing/searching/etc.

Idols feel like garbage, Circle of Fortune has a similar problem. Get 50 idols from one prophecy, only half get lootfiltered, the other half are bad rolls, do this 10 times to find 1 max rolled idol. pain.
There should be affix tiers with NO range. Even only 2 affix tiers, common T1 idols for low level gearing and then super rare exalted idols. Remove all roll ranges from idols.
Yeah, on my CoF characters I have idol filters so they ONLY show if they contain two affixes I can use, and it’s sad to see 50 idols drop with 0 of them showing up as they are all garbage
That’s because layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer upon layer of RNG is immersive, and challenging.
If I didn’t know better, you almost sound like you want to turn this game into an Actually Looking Forward to Loot Drops Simulator™

I’d like to say right away that I’m enjoying the game, despite the criticisms that follow.
For the moment, the Fortune Cycle is the best choice, simply because the passive benefits are much better than for the Merchant’s, and by far …
Well, the Merchant’s Guild is an abject failure, which is really unfortunate. Just for the interface, it’s not practical and there are too many good examples today to justify such a result! I understand their approach, which is to frame exchanges and avoid abuse, but at the same time…
But given the state of the merchant guild, we could have had access to both. You get to buy and sell far too late, depending on the rarity of the item. When you can do it, you don’t need to lol. They could divide the cost in favor by 2 or 4, but that would still be pretty restrictive. And to prevent abuse, they could automatically determine the gold value of items to be sold, as for the cost of favors (just an idea, there are plenty of other possibilities). In this way, they’d maintain control, but allow items to circulate reasonably.
Something that could be add is inspection of other player character and some simple trade like Diablo 2.
And please take inspiration from POE for the interface!!!
