Proposal: Hybrid Faction System to Save Economy and Reinvigorate Legacy Mode
Текст поста (Body):
The Problem:
Currently, the Merchant’s Guild (MG) economy, especially in Legacy, suffers from hyperinflation caused by gold exploits and RMT. This makes high-tier items (3-4 LP) unattainable for honest players, while “Circle of Fortune” (CoF) remains isolated.
The Solution: A Progressive Hybrid Model
Instead of keeping factions mutually exclusive, let’s make them a unified progression path with a “skill-gate.”
Start with Merchant’s Guild (MG): All players start here. They can buy/sell basic gear (0-1 LP), idols, and crafting materials to get their builds running.
The “Ascension” Trial: To unlock the second faction (CoF), a player must reach 400 Corruption and defeat a specific boss (e.g., Orobyss or a Timeline Boss) on that difficulty.
The Hybrid Rule (Anti-Inflation):
Once CoF is unlocked, the player gets all CoF loot bonuses.
CRITICAL: Every item dropped via CoF bonuses is automatically Account Bound (cannot be traded).
Gold remains relevant only for consumables, crafting bases, and entry-level uniques on the Bazaar.
Why this works:
Economic Protection: Since the most powerful items (3-4 LP) will be obtained via CoF bonuses and become Account Bound, RMT gold loses its power. You can’t “buy” a BiS character anymore; you have to earn it.
Anti-Botting: 400 Corruption is a significant barrier for low-effort bot farms.
Player Retention: It gives players a clear “end-game” goal: reach 400 Corruption to unlock the “super-loot” mode.
Legacy Recovery: This system allows the Legacy economy to heal," as the most valuable items will be removed from the market cycle.
I believe this would make Last Epoch’s faction system truly unique and resilient against exploits. What do you think, Travelers?
This isn’t a final proposal, just a rough draft of ideas. Of course, it all needs to be fleshed out and refined. I’m just tossing some initial thoughts your way. These ideas are largely inspired by the auction model used in WOW.
No, it does because the system is fundamentally not long-term functional.
Exploits and RMT just speed it up, but it happens anyway.
I’m against a mixing of those factions as they specifically were designed to not interact. I’m for a rework of the whole system though to actually make it a proper design rather then how it currently interacts with.
CoF dropped items (any level) LP3/4 can’t be sold as they’re tagged with CoF not MG
How many people are starting fresh chars in legacy?
Don’t you think the player base who play LE because we enjoy self found would just stop playing if they were forced into MG?
CoF trading anything with LP requires obsidian resonance which takes a lot of time playing with a friend to get. I play with 1 mate specifically, dunno 8-10+ hours a day and we run map after map, big streaks of them for hours straight amber/imprint farming and we get them from time to time. Unsure how this system isn’t good enough for your trading protection worry?
Does RMT actually exist in Legacy? WHO would buy gold for Legacy these days? I think the inflation stems from compounded exploits and issues we had in earlier seasons 1.0, 1.1 and maybe 1.2 and the regular inflation that is also rampant in season. I’m all for a Legacy reset also to get rid of all the junk that aggregated. Or soft reset that clears all items and puts them into players remove-only tabs if char still exists.
Never force me to play MG though.
Products on the market should have a limited amount of time. If the expiration date has passed, the product goes into storage and is removed after a week. If you don’t pick up your product, it’s your problem. And the economy will recover.
With mandatory sorting through those before being allowed to list new items. So you cannot abuse it as extra storage.
That’s a non-acceptable state. ‘Oh no, I gotta work without connection for a week, now I’ll loose my item!’
Prime way to piss people off for absolutely no reason and with a myriad of alternative ways which don’t piss people off while fulfilling what has to be upheld.
You’re just putting words in my mouth there. I in no way implied that Legacy players aren’t real players, only that playing Legacy is a choice that they have made, and should be prepared to pay the higher market prices for items that comes with these kinds of seasonal vs legacy kind of games. The nerfs and buffs that come with the territory too.
I think the vast majority of players are seasonal ones and so in my opinion it makes sense for EHG to primarily focus on this until they have all of their ducks in a row before any major overhauls specific to legacy.
Perhaps, but only because I was struggling to think of a reason why legacy should be treated as a redheaded stepchild, given that currently the only difference is the economy reset. And due to this, the proposed change would happen in league as well.
Only that they are less important and shouldn’t have new shiny.
Not likely. There is no difference between seasonal and legacy at this point other than economy reset and leaderboards, which not many care about.
Returning players are more likely to stick to legacy than to start over at this point. Especially because most will likely also be CoF.
“My main priority is simply getting the MG fixed. I’m not insisting that things have to be done exactly the way I proposed in my original post, but we need a solution. Any constructive ideas are more than welcome—as long as we don’t just leave it broken.”
First they need to ensure the core gameplay loop is a enjoyable one. Time-based content (even if it stays after) isn’t helping if the progression itself from start to end isn’t fun. If it’s fun though then such extra content increases the fun a lot on top.
