How the "on kill" effect works

There are several different sources of effects that trigger “on kill”. Examples: “health on kill” affix, the last wish node summoning sigils on kill, the devouring blade passive for void knight.

What I want to know is: What triggers this? Do I have to deal the killing blow? Or does it count when my minions do to? If reflected damage kills, does it trigger?

Also, when my minions have an ability that triggers on kill (such as forged weapons with “health on kill” affix) does that minion have to deal the killing blow? Thanks!

You yourself have to deal the killing blow.

Your minions do not trigger on kill effect for the players and vice versa.

On kill effects from minions do not trigger, when the player kills enemies.

Thanks, Heavy! Also, do you know if reflect triggers it? My build has a lot of reflect, so it’s important to know.
