How familiar are you with the story of Last Epoch?

I’ve come and gone over the past 4 years, and have managed to accrue 1300 hours of play time.

I’m wondering how many players are fully intimate with the story, and how many players like myself just try to click through dialogue boxes as quickly as possible.

Are you:

A) fully versed in the Last Epoch story

B) Unable to describe any of the storyline to a stranger.

C) Somewhere in the middle.

How many hours have you logged?

I think it’s perfectly normal after having played through the campaign enough times (which is a person-dependent number, might be 0, might be lots) to just skip through all the text.

~2.6k hours, probably A, also skipping that text.

Over 30 characters through the campaign, and I still read pretty much everything. You never know, they might have sneakily changed a word somewhere…
Even if I sometimes skip a bit of text, I always do each and every quest. Never skipped a single one.
Basically, to me a game, any game, IS the campaign and the side quests. Endgame is what the name says, the end, a way to enjoy a character a bit longer if I really like him/her, but the game is over before that.

I also suffer from acute fogophobia (I have a note from my doctor) and I have a pathological need to fully explore each map. I try to force myself to move straight to the exit but I don’t like doing it, if there is some fog somewhere it has to go.
[Related note: if EHG could do like Undecember or Diablo 4 and respawn the monsters but keep the map, I would be eternally grateful.]

I am aware I am sick. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

  • I’ve skipped every single dialogue (in every single ARPG btw), only remember “pickup shard” and “pay 100,000 gold”. I’m not against the storytelling, but in modern world, especially for games, text dialogues are meh. If you want to tell a story, at least make some (skippable) cutscenes.
  • It’s not that I’m completely disinterested. I’ve read some articles about the Void on wiki and visited secret game locations once (4 altars in different timelines).
  • Players, that play the most, just sit inside monos without any story progression.
  • It’s difficult to make a good story in different timelines, so that time travel doesn’t look like a trick to add variety.
  • For me the only entities in the game with identitiy are Majasa (probably because of a 30 second unskippable cutscene and censored phases long boss fight) and Julra. Julra is scary, because she follows me through time (Dahaka flashbacks intinsify). I would be happy to see POE style Julra influence on echos, where she spawns her void snakes in ancient times. That’s kind of story I want, mysterous, disturbing, dangerous, to make me want to discover, whats going on. Not some text thrown in the face.

I have 370 or so hours in the game. I’m fairly well-versed in the story. The first time playing thorugh things I usually read the dialogue, but on subsequent play-throughs I usually skip through it.

Story? In an ARPG? Really? Who knew.

I am firmly in B. Haven’t read a single line of the story despite 1500 hours, and having been through most of the campaign 40+ times.

I have about 230 hours logged, and I barely have a grasp on the story. So B, I guess.

I don’t really care for story in ARPGs - I want to get loot.

I am 370 hours deep and even though I carefully read the story only on my first playthrough couple of years ago I ve been keeping tabs on what actually happens and who is who in the story and enviroment, it makes me feel more invested in the monos and its nice understanding what changed in each timeline. For that alone I think the main story is worth keeping in mind.

TLDR: would give myself a high C)…Rahyeh did nothing wrong btw

How do you know they are meh if you never tried reading them in any arpg?

Not reading the story is absolutely fine, we all have our way to play, there is no right or wrong.
But saying it is bad without reading it feels a bit weird?

I mean the format, sure I can’t judge them without reading
