How exactly does Rahyah kill Heriott?

so i’ve played through the end of the story 4 times now, and each time i get to the very brief conflict between big ice deer boy and fire bird guy, i find myself wondering:
“is the bird guy just stronger or did he do some shenanigans? because it kinda just looks likes he tries a little bit harder after deer boi puts up his shield and just one shots him.”
this confusion is further compounded by us having to retrieve a mystical lance and get it blessed by at least 3 gods that aren’t bird boi just to beat him (and an undead king in the future, but that’s neither here nor there)

I’m going with Rahyeh baiting Heriott into blowing his defensive cooldown while Rahyeh used an auto-attack then just as the cooldown was coming to an end Rahyeh popped all of his offensive cooldowns/potions/trinkets/etc & nuked the soap-dodging tree-hugging hippy back to the End of Time. Rahyeh clearly had greater knowledge of his opponent’s skills & when to burst him down. Rahyeh may also have had target of target turned on & could see what was happening with Heorot’s buff bar.

Edit: Maybe Rahyeh was in his PvP gear & Heorot was in his PvE gear?

i mean, i’d agree with you, but he clearly one shots deer boi WHILE the shield is up, so clearly he’s stacking resist pen for style points.

Well, I’m thinking the shield has a damage absorption capacity (like Flame Ward), rather than adding 100% DR for the duration (or a mixture of the two), hence my comment about Rahyeh just slapping it with his wet noodle until he knows he can do enough damage to turn his opponent into so much venison steak.

Would you like your Heorot Burger rare, medium rare or well done?

Heorot is clearly a cold/ice type monster who would naturally be weak to fire. I would assume Heorot knew he was beat and was just trying to hold out. It didn’t go well.

Rahyah couldn’t do anything to Lagon unless he slithered out of the water. Rahyah would also probably have a tough go at a big earth elemental diety.
