I feel like I’m pigeonholed into using Maelstrom to level at any decent speed. I’ve tried the wolf & thorn totem, and both are the slowest killing I’ve played of any of the classes.
Please tell me Maelstrom isn’t the only way to level decently as Primalist.
I leveled up a Beastmaster, with 5 companions, bleed build, and I clear content almost quicker than my friend with his necromancer build. Honestly i didnt even tried the maelstrom because it simply wasnt needed
At the moment there is probably nothing that is going to beat the pace of a Maelstrom build with Beneath the Waves and, eventually, the haste node. But if you happen to sit on a bunch of totem affix shards i.e. +Spell damage and Cast Speed, and then rush the double damage node in Thorn Totem tree then it does become decently fast.
But if you want max speed then Maelstrom cannot be beat.
For totems you need really +Spell Damage instead of +Minion Damage? And how does +Cast Speed buffing the attack speed?
If it’s ninion cast speed then it would make them fire faster. If it’s player cast speed it’d allow you to cast/get the totems out faster.
I just did the story with a new primalist, I used a double taste of blood swipe bleed with leap slam and it was pretty fast 
To level a Primalist fast to End of Time use Ice Thorns and Firestarters Torch and grab any % damage nodes and non homing nodes, specalise in Wolf bleed nodes for second skill, takes maybe an hour and 20 mins to get there
infact Firestarters Torch carries you on any character
I personally use Ice Thorns for Primalist, up until I get my Spriggan Form, then use Spirit Thorns. But that’s because I’m going Druid, full Spriggan Form build.
