Hopes for the Future - Trade and Communication

I have two wishes, one for trade and one for communication.
The trade one is an easy:

  • Make sure price fixing is impossible!
Can be done by making sure everything that is listed for sale is buyable at any given time. Its important in my eyes to hinder bots and players to control the market with low price offers to buy everything thats undercutting the price, to resell for the true/higher value. The other part, where I dont have a solution on my own for is, make sure that it*s not possible for one player to buy out everything of one kind to sell it for higher prices, just by controlling the market supply.

Communication:
Its just a thought I got during Dev Stream. Do we need the possibility to ask 20 times the same question - ā€œMP when?ā€ or read an endless wall of questions that could be answered by just pressing ā€œGā€ ingame and read the great answers given there?

If your answer is no, or you tend to think a talk, Q&A would be better if only relevant questions are placed - you are wrong, imo.

lets take a look at POE communication and what has happened there: It went from open communication to a moderated system, where devs and streamer talk about the real stuff.
It is a solution to handle a lot of problems, f.e. it helps to make the talk relevant, present important things, prevent a question to get ask over and over again and much more. BUT

It is a bubble, where devs are talking to full time gamers the casual player is cut out. That’s leading to a rush at the backdoors. The casual/normal/advanced player that feels like the Streamer, who is asking the questions, is not representing the mindset he has as a non-full time player, has a problem. To solve that problem he will start to make loudly/angry reddit threads, forum posts, or mails to support just to get heard - using backdoors to make his opinion relevant.

So the way EHG is handling the communication right now is great, it’s in close contact to the player base, everyone is relevant and feels in touch with the devs, if he/she wants to. Even new players can ask noobish questions and get someone ā€œimportantā€ who is listening to those
beginner topics. That is great.

So beside the need to make a good presentation, get changes delivered and educated questions asked to make a Q&A relevant - I see the need to let casual/new players and even advanced players with nerdish nish questions being part of that communication to prevent a bubble effect and a rush to backdoors by those players.

So please if you ever consider changing the ongoing system, please make sure that the direct wire between player and EHG didn’t get cut.

I don’t know about the devs, but I certainly find it frustraiting when the same few questions are asked again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again, etc. I know that people come on after someone’s asked and they didn’t see the answer, but it’s still frustraiting & makes me glad I’m not in a public-facing/PR type role.

But yes, hopefully the communication stays like it is now.

I agree. I feel like I’ve got cut from GGG’s communication and all I am getting is PR talk from POE now. It doesnt feel good and it makes me more and more reluctant to support them even if they were the ones who gave me a good (arpg) time for many years and still is.

Yes, i have also many 40/40 achievements, lvl 100 char and have had a good time while playing. But that has changed for me, seeing C.W. talking about trade, crafting or on death effects - is for me like he is talking about a different game, than the one I am playing. Watching a stream, with ZiggyD or any other BigStreamer for Poe - makes me feel disconnected.

That’s one reason why i wanted for the EHG future, that they try a different approach.
