Convinced this was a bug i initially posted in the bug forum:
For me, the drop sound is an indication that i should check if there was something interesting. If certain hidden items make drop sounds then its just audio clutter that disrupts my game flow.
So the suggestion is to remove all sounds for items hidden by the loot filter.

I agree and ALSO would like to be able to change drop sound for shown and recoloured items. I would like my high tier has multiple t5 affixes and best base items to make a cool sound.
All the filter does (afaik) is hide item labels. You can can still see the 3d item models drop on the ground. They’re quite detailed if you zoom in. This is actually a performance issue in PoE (not sure about LE) because of monster density + map juice + tons of trash loot drops.
