The idea being to all leap into combat together and to swipe away frantically in order to generate absurd amounts of spirit wolves, of course. But this will be my first foray into Beastmaster. So help me out and let’s refine this! I’m debating Frenzy Totem instead of Warcry for the massive crit chance increase, I’m not at all sure my weapon selection is optimal, and I worry the damage is too low generally speaking. It’s purely theorycrafting right now, at least for the next few hours. Any help is appreciated!
don’t know about trex with wolves, but you have 5 minions and 2 of them are not wolves. Useless scale of wolves imho as i don’t see any buffs for wolves in this situation. And for sure +1 minion from helmet for 5 wolves - 20% more damage increase instead of +4 to skill.
For sure, 2nd naal tooth or exalted 1.24 atspeed sword with 2 flat minion damage and attack speed is better, if you play spirit wolves, you neeed to uptime them spawning by hitting fast enough(also it’s mana fixing problem)
Also, you can try other gloves, last bear set with beastmaster strength is definitely better, many endurance and regen even in nonexalted basic version
Whoops forgot to throw that River Champions back on the helm, that’s key. Fixed that and updated the link, thanks! It’s 8 total minions though - 1 Spriggan, 6 Wolves, 1 T-Rex. Base 2 companions, +3 from Mastery / Passive, +1 from helm, and the free wolf from the tree. T-Rex doesn’t take a companion slot.
As to the T-Rex, it’s why I don’t bother scaling flat on weapon (that and this is a strict LP1 version and attack speed seemed more important, though it’s certainly debatable). The T-Rex has +270 physical damage from Str, and gives the Wolves +79 flat physical damage at all time. Plus 12% more health and 12% more damage. T-Rex is crazy with pretty much any physical minon build but it’s perfect for Beastmaster, given the strength scaling is nutters and you want to cap Endurance anyway.
The gloves for sure, if it’s too squishy and I need more recovery Last Bears is definitely on the table. Not at all sold on Julra’s yet and that’s a good option. Losing 100%+ total resists for myself and my minions though being offered by a single item is a fairly hefty loss, not sure where I could pop them in without losing big damage or sustain elsewhere though, so it’ll definitely be worth testing both ways.
Yep definitely, swipe itself still scales off your damage though (as does Fury Leap) and most importantly your crits are the main source of recovery via Aspect of the Lynx / Lamprey Teeth, which is why there’s any investment into self-damage at all. The main source (Hakar’s) is really there for the auto-revive and to make it less annoying for me to pick back up the wolves though XD.
so spriggan cost minion slot, and you can get resist from more blessings and idols, and belt ofc. Also your 2nd ring can be replaced for exalt/phantom grip/ribbons of blood.
Wait you’re suggesting dropping Spriggan? That seems crazy to me - Spriggan gives 8% Base crit, 36% attack speed, 72% crit avoidance (making capping crit avoidance trivial), and healz. That’s a huge amount of damage and sustain to drop. For 1 extra wolf? Doesn’t seem remotely worth it to me. I would drop Warcry way before I would drop Spriggan since Berserk doesn’t pass along to them and 100% increased crit chance isn’t even close to the impact Spriggan has.
Ribbons of Blood isn’t needed in this build precisely because of Spriggan, Phantom Grip is nicer, but to give you an idea how high impact Spriggan is both of those rings combined don’t even come close to covering replacing it (setting aside the rings themselves displaced). As to getting more resists, I mocked it out, effectively you drop to 3600 health instead of 4k, in exchange for an extra 120 HP/S; I feel like I would need to have much higher regen investment for it to be worth it. But that might be the right route to go. It’s also true that you pick up more armor and can snag % armor applies to damage over time along the way, and both of those are quite valuable. Certainly worth testing.
For the End and End threshold, do you know how that works in terms of what baseline endurance threshold the wolves get? If it’s just mine likely not worth it given they have 16.5k health or thereabouts, so the endurance would apply only to their final… 5% of health? Even if I got my End threshold beefy (probably worthwhile in its own right, I would imagine) if it’s baseline 20% of their health plus the bonuses to End threshold from me, worth it, otherwise if it’s just the number from my End threshold probably not.
you can have smg else like frenzy totem and having much more damage. Spriggan ablity doesn’t affect even 50% if time, you will get crit and wolf be oneshotted sometimes too with that.
And i mention endurance ofc not in ur setup, in endurance full setup. You loosing lot of defence without it
For sure, Frenzy Totem is definitely on the table, but if I were to take Frenzy Totem it would absolutely supplant Warcry not Spriggan. On my side I’m overcapped on Endurance just not invested as high in End Threshold as I would like, but even if I doubled my End threshold we’re still looking at it only applying to at most 10% of their health, just based on relative percentages. The larger point is that minions always are going to have many times your health so if it’s just your End threshold straight up that’s relatively low value, if it’s based on their base health percentage then it’s way higher.
I suppose we’ll see how often wolves get crit and oneshot but honestly in this setup that would actually be somewhat advantageous given Hakar’s, it’s a fair concern though so we’ll see how it plays. Definitely great feedback and worth thinking about.
