Help,, full game release

I weirdly like the before more from the before and after. The grainy old looking textures have a lot of character. Maybe some of the other environments look nicer, like the caves or bogs. Those always kinda looked awful in the old texture style.

Y’know we were talking about how ARPG graphics haven’t really advanced very much the last few years. There is one game that came to my mind today that you might appreciate that kind of has, actually. It’s more of a looter-shooter than an ARPG, though it is an isometric action game with RPG elements, so it does kind of count. It’s called The Ascent.

It’s not necessarily my favorite game. It is really fun for the first 20-30 hours, for sure. The story gets weaker and the premise kind of falls apart in some respects later on. That and the last few levels and some of the lategame enemies are not executed well and feels brief like the game is spreading thin. You can tell they were kind of out of ideas about an hour or two before it’s over.

All that aside, it’s an amazing tech demo for what you can do with graphics in real time in an isometric action game. I like it a lot, despite its flaws. You can tell the people who made it really like videogames and were trying to make something that both looked and felt fresh. Really interesting little game, if you decide you’re bored enough to check it out, if you haven’t already.

Edit: Good news, it’s still on sale until the 25th, apparently. Or it is in the states, anyway.

Admittingly I have not played GD with the mod more than 20 minutes just to check out the 7600, but Im onboard with you. The atmosphere is a huge part of GD, and that mod COMPLETELY changes it. Its just really cool somebody had the ability to do something so amazing. The GD modding community is the absolute best, the mods can keep you occupied for an actual life time.

Yeah, I’ve got it but I’ve not played much of it. Amusingly, Unreal 4 was the engine I was thinking about being able to do exceedingly pretty games when I posted the above few posts.

I demand only the pinkest and sparkliest unicorns in my ARPGs. Anything less is an offence as far as I am concerned.

How many sparkles? Get specific, dangit! lol

Sparks shpuld be full actors with at least 100 poly count. No particle effects.
