I’m currently trying to play a Ruby Fangs Cinder Strike Falconer. I’m super not familiar with rogue in general, so I’ve been kind of stumbling a lot to figure out two big things:
-
How I best to do defenses. Obviously I’m using a shield for the set bonus, so the question is whether I take the threshold node that converts block chance to glancing blow chance (the crafted affix doesn’t have the ruby venom, so actually blocking isn’t relevant unless I use the base set item) or if I use the one that gives block effectiveness per dex. Then related to that is whether or not I should take the node in blade dancer to convert all my dodge into glancing blow. I’m guessing the 2 choices are fairly linked. It does cost a lot of points to get that node.

Mana sustain: This may or may not actually be an issue. I was considering using the first strike only nodes in cinder strike, but obviously this has the issue of mana cost and no longer being able to get mana from Sapping Strikes unless I use another generator, at which point it feels like I might as well just go back to just hitting cinder strike if I need some smaller attacks in between the big ones anyway. So what is the most reasonable way to solve this mana shortage? There are a few awkward options. Stamina of the Rover has a bit of mana regen that isn’t enough for sustain on it’s own and then the mana gain on dodge which only really works if I’m not converting everything to glancing blows. Unless I’m missing some cheap/free way to make decoys, the threshold node for Blast Radius doesn’t seem like it’d be mana positive. Shift has Swift Recovery, but it also costs mana and it doesn’t seem like enough mana anyway. Arial Assault has Refreshing Resolve for 9% of missing mana back. Not sure if that’s enough but for either of the movement skills it has the awkward problem of needing to make me move around. The falcon has Hunter’s Spoils, but that just doesn’t seem like it’d be enough, especially if the falcon isn’t killing stuff on trash. So what’s the best way to do this? Or should I just abandon that node and go for the free Cinder Strike? I’m not totally opposed to that since there are a lot of nodes I like in the tree, but just getting to use the first strike has felt kind of nice for the short time I could sustain it.
It’s really sloppy, so this is only to get the gist of what I’m going for, but here is the planner:

and here is the current character:

As far as health sustain goes I’m assuming it’s gonna be elemental leech from somewhere like the relic, but idk. It feels like it’d be tough to get regen in here with a lot of suffixes already spoken for by fire res.
UPDATE: I could really use some help. I’m kind of stuck at empowered monos with no damage or survivability. I don’t really know what I need to change to make it all work out. I can’t really just trade damage for survivability or visa versa, both need to be a lot better. As it exists now it’s kind of dead in the water unless someone can revive it. Here’s the character at the moment:

(Also, yes I know I both have 100% crit reduction and avoidance. The woven flesh is just there because the T7 dex was better than any of the crappy chest pieces I’ve found so far lol)
