Hardware requirements

I have just purchased this game and am expecting glitches and problems since it’s beta, but I was at least expecting to be able to play it! Once in the game as soon as I move or do something it pauses for several minutes to play catchup. I’ve tried turning the quality setting to the lowest and whilst that did improve things it is still not playable. Although I don’t have a gaming laptop I don’t consider it to be too shabby either:
GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX2070
CPU: Intel i9-9900K
Mem: 16GB
Disk: 300GB SSD

Are there some hardware setting that need tweaking somewhere? At a guess I’d say it’s behaving as if it’s doing all the rendering in software rather than using the GPU.
Thanks.

Your system should have no problems… There is obviously something going on. I am running i5-7500 on a 1060 gpu 1080p (on low or very low settings) and am getting 75 fps for most areas unless the build is a known fps killer (lightning mage , minion necro etc) or in an area where there is an fps drop off.

I would make sure that nothing is hogging the system in the background (no other apps running), making sure all the drivers etc are up-to-date and patches installed on whatever OS you are using. Make sure the OS graphics settings are set to performance etc. If its a laptop, make sure that there are no performance settings that are set to save battery etc. (sometimes the battery saving settings can hobble fast processors/gpus).

Then try setting everything on the graphics in game to low /very low and seeing if the fps is affected in any way or if a particular setting is causing the problem. I think its F11 to show fps on the top left. Enable each settings - one at a time and see its effect… should help problem solve the issue.

Beyond that, you may need to submit logs to EHG

BTW.,… welcome to the forum and game!

Thank you for your help. This evening there was an update which succeeded after rebooting. I’m now getting ~60fps on medium quality and 120fps on low - and the sound is working again. Now I need to get to grips with the controls. I have extensive experience with Neverwinter Nights and Myth2 but nothing else so basics like controlling the camera are going to be a voyage of discovery.

Glad its all working again… enjoy…
