Found fix for mono crashing
I was having a lot of crashes in monoliths. I have ryzen 7 5700X3D and asrock gaming a770 8gb. Ran campaign great on master quality setting high and ran 120 fps whole time no issue. Did monoliths and had crashing constantly, so I pulled up gpu overlay and saw vram being maxed out 8345mb and gpu memory utilization 99%, which I thought was wierd So I turned the setting master quality down to low, and it dropped the memory utilization to 57% and during intense moments 65% but no crashes what so ever. But the game looked a little bad but not terrible, so I bumped it to medium and again. The same issue 99% gpu memory maxed vram. Started crashing again.
So I messed with setting and found if you set master quality to low and then in advanced settings I have everything on high restarted game, And the game looks great and my vram is at 57% and no more crashes. So the consensus I found is I guess the master quality setting changes way more than what’s just in advanced settings clearly because my vram only goes up when that setting is changed. The advanced settings doesn’t mess with it to much.
So for anyone else who has crashes during mono because of the game just maxing the vram for no reason try master quality low and turn the advanced settings to your preference and watch your vram and vram utilization and see what it does. This helped my game from crashing during monoliths. I don’t know if it’s just the fact it’s a Unity game and that master quality changes a lot more settings we don’t have control over and see.
My biggest concern with this is I thought the master setting just changed the advanced settings for me but with what I found that’s not true it’s changing way more than just the advanced settings which I think is unfair to us players who try to optimize the game for the hardware we have. I wish they would add in the graphics settings that the master quality also changes so we have more tuning ability to make the game run better and not max out vram for no reason.
I absolutely love this game and because i have high hopes for this game because EHG care for the community i really hope they fix or find a way to let us customize those settings better so players arent taxing their hardware more than it should. Hope this helps people who have crashing issues and maybe keep hardware from being overused. Hope devs can add more adjustable settings to help this.
